I made an appointment with Sandy who fitted me for the alterations to my engagement dress (simple hem). Was told the total would be 75+ tax, which seemed high, but given the great reviews I figured it would be worth it. The agreed pickup appointment was Friday 7/5 at 4:30pm. When I arrived, there were several other clients waiting to be served and I was informed my dress was not ready. They asked if I could come back later (5:30pm) but I had an appointment and was working the following day (Saturday).I felt annoyed that I wasted my time even driving over there. Since they’re closed Sunday and Monday, I had to go get it today (Tuesday). I kindly expressed my disappointment with the delay and was not offered a discount or credit, simply “thanks for your feedback.” They’re lucky my event was not Saturday, otherwise I would have been SOL! Although the dress turned out beautifully, my experience was soured. No longer considering then for my bridal alterations.
I hate to give bad reviews to any locally owned business, and I’m sure for wedding dresses they are great. I took several pairs of pants to be taken in. They were not done well, and I hesitated to let them try to fix them again and requested a refund, but I gave it another chance after the owner assured me she could solve the problem. I got them back a second time and it was as if nothing was taken in at all. I decided to accept the monetary loss and pay someone else to fix them. A costly mistake that hopefully someone else can avoid!
A Better Fit Alterations was, without a doubt, the best alterations experience I could have asked for leading up to my wedding day! It’s a small shop, but the ladies there truly know what they are doing and talked me through every piece of my alteration. I was nervous about my dress because I ended up buying off the rack and it was was a little too tight in the ribs and the straps dug into my shoulders. A Better Fit made my dress not only fit me beautifully, but also enhanced it in ways I didn’t even think about to make it even more beautiful! Additionally, they helped me make decisions around things like the bustle and hemline that ensured the features of the dress were enhanced. I would highly recommend A Better Fit to anyone needing alterations for a wedding dress or otherwise.
Absolutely wonderful people. My daughter was married in Memphis but had moved and worked with a seamstress in her new town, which did not go well. I left a message at A Better Fit on the Monday (when they were closed!) asking for advice, got a call back that day and an appointment on Tuesday, and had a thrilled and relieved bride Thursday. A small miracle!
Brought home my wedding dress from A Better Fit yesterday after four alterations appointments. I was feeling a little down when I brought it in because the dress fit poorly and I thought I’d made a bad decision when I bought my sample dress. Amanda altered the dress to make it fit like a glove, changed the top to strapless, added a belt, a bustle, and fixed the length. I’m so happy with the finished product. Amanda did an excellent job and everyone was so professional and kind. Highly recommend, just make sure to call them far in advance as I’ve heard they book up quick (rightly so).
I had a wonderful experience having my wedding dress altered at A Better Fit with Amanda! She so patient and answered all of my questions along the way! She took my concerns and made every adjustments to address them. After 3 appointments it fits me perfect and the bustle is better than I could imagine! I cannot say enough good things about Amanda! I booked 6 months ahead of my date and they were already filling up! Definitely call with plenty of time since they are in high demand! Thank you Amanda and A Better Fit! I decided to have several dresses altered downsized for a better fit instead of purchasing smaller dresses. We had to cancel our wedding three years ago so it was nice to finally take some photographs and celebrate our honeymoon. They did such a great job on all of the dresses and jumpsuits. They really focused on the details and their professionalism and kindness cannot be matched by other alteration businesses in the area. I had three dresses altered down to be used in a few weddings and two dresses downsized to be used for our own finally honeymooning celebration. Everyone was so sweet and kind. They went out of their way to make sure my dress was perfect and handled my bridal crazy moments so graciously!!
Amanda and the team were amazing! Each time I came in for an appointment, Amanda would explain the why and how in detail which was helpful in understanding her process. Communication was excellent and the final result was exactly what I had imagined. I highly recommend them!
