Today I was disgusted with both my meal and the service...my beef soup had 2 bites of beef and about a pound of fat, the tamale was old because the cheese was hard and crusty.....I never complain at businesses I simply do not go back but this time I felt I had to. The lady proceeds to tell me that the cheese tamale was "normal" and she brought me more meat; however, her attitude was in the toilet....I won't be going back!!!
One of my favorite places to get food in all of Kansas City & has been for many years. Will come back time and time again. I especially love their tacos, tamales, & grilled onion. Yum!
They get three stars because they were friendly but their food & bakery is all mediocre! There is just not enough flavor for me...I could eat the asada & pastor tacos...but why would I?! Their carnitas and barbacoa were just awful between the lack of flavor and fat on the pork I'm actually mad at the person that recommended this place!
Holy cow! This place is one of a kind in the KC area! Cool little market with deli style counter complete with tacos, tamales, and more traditional-styled fair. We arrived a little after 9 PM, and it was still popping. Tacos al pastor are a must! Plus on Tuesdays and Fridays most tacos are $1 each.
Worst customer service ever!! On Friday afternoon I stopped by their Minnesota Ave location and ordered 3 pounds of cooked meat to take home and put some tacos together, I also purchased drinks and some fresh made tortillas that they sell there(also for the tacos). The guy on the line packing up the meat, way over weighed the meat and didn't zero out the scale for the container. I paid for the weight of the container like it was 12$ a lb. taco meat. When he was finally got done packing up the meat and the fixings for the tacos, I get up to the register and the very incompetent cashier starts giving away my food. She managed to get back the meat from some guy that was about to walk away with some free food. She how ever didn't manage to get back the cilantro, onions, and sauce. So I ask her if they could give me another ration and a piece of foil to wrap the tortillas I just purchased there so they wouldn't get cold. She got super bothered that I asked her to replace the fixings, and told me that they don't give away anything for free. The foil would cost me a dollar. I was in disbelief that after spending that amount of money I wouldn't be extended any courtesy, or the least bit of customer appreciation. she then shrugged her shoulder and said that I would have to speak to the manager and that she was too busy to deal with me. At this point I just wanted to leave and not deal with these people. I will never be returning here and I will be advising all my friend to do the same. There is other places in town that sell the same stuff without the attitude.
The best asada taco's that I have ever tasted.
11/6/23 today i stopped in and ordered a burrito and chicken quesadilla with my girlfriend. We decided to eat there at the tables in front of the store. My girlfriend looks over at the woman who made our food. The woman picked up a spoon of food from the food island puts it on her glove tasted the food and used the spoon to wipe the food off her hand back into the pan of food in the island that she served us. To me that is disgusting and I'm going to notify the health department about this. I'll never come back to this place again.
Pretty tough to beat for authentic Mexican food. The Parrillada was one of the better Mexican meals I've had. It's not a fancy location, and you order at a counter, but it's also got a nice selection of groceries and meats, with a bakery across the street..
BEST TACOS IN KC PERIOD. I've been going here for years. It is tried, tested, and true. It isn't the kind of establishment that you should seek excellent customer service. But you will always find good food! This is for the KCK location on Minnesota btw
I moved to Kansas City after living my whole life in So Cal. Finding a good spot for Mexican Food has been crazy but this is the spot. I now come here for the market, food in house and I buy meat at their Butcher. This place is a must go for all taco lovers. If you haven’t been here you are welcome and if you have you know what I am talking about. i recommend the carne asada tacos and avocado salsa.
