Dixon Projects abandoned our townhome addition/renovation project that we hired them for. First, to address the other 1 star reviews here (as I was an actual client of Dixon’s for a significant project, which they will not be able to deny), Dixon does in fact add a 25% markup (not commission) while they subcontract out all of the work. In our opinion, the process of working with Dixon Projects was disastrous nearly every step of the way. Dixon was the GC on our project, and as such they oversaw all of the subcontractors and various moving parts of our project. After extensive delays and repeated change orders (many of which, in our opinion, were not justified as they should have been part of the project from the start, in the proposal process), we asked for more transparency into the accounting/billing process of our project. As with any project, such transparency is expected for the property owner to have clear documentation on where their money is going. Getting their detailed billing led to us realize that Dixon breached our contract by: *failing to assure appropriate insurance was obtained and remained in force throughout the project. * failing to submit payment applications in accordance with its contractual obligations (including failing to protect us as owners with appropriate retained sums) *failing to properly document and track payments *failing to properly and timely order materials that had extensive lead times (which resulted in extensive delays for our overall timeline). In the end, Dixon was over their head and abandoned our project. It is our understanding that Dixon did not pay the retainage monies owed to the subcontractors (and consequently, the subcontractors are now threatening us). We were left half way through to then rebid the project, it has been a financial and emotional nightmare for us. Our project went from what was supposed to be a year to now being two years. We even made an effort to part amicably with Dixon, but their refusal to return our retainage funds to subcontractors left us in an incredibly compromising position. One of the subs that we had paid, and tried to continue to work with, even told us that Dixon wanted him to apply our money to another Dixon Project. Wow. We have suffered immensely from having worked with Dixon Projects. I would strongly advise anyone considering them for a renovation to avoid it at all costs.

Amazing group of true professionals. If you want to do ANYTHING to your home these are the folks to call. They have helped us come up with solutions to some of our biggest home headaches - many of which have saved us time and money! We are so thankful to have found them and you will be too.
Dixon provides an excellent service. The people I have worked with have been extremely knowledgeable and reliable and have made the construction process much less stressful.

Megan Eisenberg at Dixon Projects is absolutely terrific. Megan ran the entire project to design and furnish our new, 10,000 sf office space in NoMad. From initial conceptualization of the space, to procuring the furnishings, to installation and final punch list. It was a Herculean effort and we could rely on Megan for all of it. She has an exceptional eye for design, detail, layout and functionality. Our employees love the new space and it functions superbly well. We highly recommend Megan and her team at Dixon Projects. You will not be disappointed.
I would STRONGLY advise anyone considering Dixon Projects to avoid it at all costs. First and foremost, we left a factual review of our experience with them on Houzz which was mysteriously deleted... Their response to us as unhappy clients appears to be to try and silence us. In our opinion, they are essentially project managers that sub contract out all of their work (including a GC) and mark up everything 25%. We learned this the hard way after we hired Dixon as a “GC”, only to find out that they didn’t even hold the building permit or the correct insurance - that was left to all of the subcontractors which ultimately led to the execution of our renovation falling apart (leaving us to find a new GC, costing us months in delays and tons of money). In our opinion, we would have saved tons of money and time (not to mention the emotional nightmare this caused us) if we hired a traditional GC instead of Dixon Projects.. Listen to the other 1 star reviews on here because they are true....
Our fabulous team at Dixon helped us through the entire process of gut renovating an attached row house in Astoria, NY. From giving us the exact layout we needed to designing our home for us and hand holding us through every detail of the renovation, they were professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. Our project was completed on time and on budget. I would highly recommend Dixon.
