Wish I could give this zero stars its so bad. Its just excusing lazy teaching. If teachers lessons were interesting we wouldn't need this. And there are a ton of glitches with it.
Our teachers love Dyknow! The easy to use interface has been a game changer for Lenoir City Schools. Teachers working with younger students are able to push websites directly to the student device making it easier to manage a 1:1 classroom environment while our teachers working with older students can keep them on track by preventing them from visiting non academic websites. We can also use DyKnow to enable secure testing scenarios by preventing students from jumping out to other websites in search of answers when completing online tests and quizzes. We have been a customer for years and will continue to be a customer for years to come.
UPDATE: NONE OF THESE REVIEWS ARE WORKING. SECURLY DOESN"T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THESE. i sent a question to securly support asking if dyknow is spyware. They did not have the guts to respond to my inquiry. Thanks securly! I agree with many of the 1 star reviews on this list. DyKnow is spyware. I agree that it is an excuse for lazy teaching. It is fine if dyknow is installed on school owned computers. the beef starts when Schools have kids install DyKnow on their personal computers. Not only is this privacy invasive but, DyKnow is owned by Securly. a company, that has been sued in the past for selling kids personal data. Furthermore, there are cases of teachers spying on kids at HOME. This is a serious privacy violation. Thus, i believe it should be removed from schools everywhere.
What I like the most about Dyknow is that I know exactly what's on my students screens and am able to help them when they're struggling with finding a website/task/etc. Also, for the students who are off task, I can see what they are doing and have the ability to block those websites to help them focus. Also, I have the ability to send students messages. What I dislike about Dyknow is the lag time there is for me to view students' screens. I have to constantly click on the "refresh" button in order to see things in "live time." Some of the problems I am solving with dyknow is when students are having tech difficulties, such as whether or not they're on the right website. I can also use it to monitor student work, if I'm giving a question, I can see student work "live time." The benefits of using dyknow is not only having accountability for my students but it also helps me to keep track of what's happening as well as know how to meet my students' need.
Dyknow is an awesome tool to use either in the classroom or when you are teaching in virtual learning. You are able to talk to kids and answer questions while they are working. It also provides you the ability to keep everyone one on tasks.
Really invasive spyware and hella annoying. Teachers don't even know how to use it. When I change classes I'm still blocked when I'm just trying to do my work for another class. I'm so glad my high school teachers don't use this, you don't need this dumb application to keep your student in track.
When DyKnow is used in a class, it causes at least half of the class to want to tie a cinder block to their feet and jump in a 10 foot deep pool.
I use dyknow often as a way to monitor students, AND as a way to engage with students, especially virtually. I can ask polling questions, direct students to websites, and let students and myself send "instant messages" back and forth during class. This has been an awesome program for me!
Love using Dyknow to help me keep track of what my students are doing! It helps to keep them on track. While teaching online during Covid-19 stuff, it also helps so I can look at their screen and direct them on what to do to help them.
