I got here at 10 minutes to close time and when I walked in was told they were closed. There are people still shopping and being checked out. As I was getting into my car a gentleman in his car got my attention and said he got here about 15 minutes before I did and was told the same thing. I just needed to run in to grab a couple of t-shirts for my daughter that got into a very bad car accident and is in the hospital. I live 5 hours from here and am familiar with this company so I thought I would be able to get what I needed because I've always had great experiences with every location I've ever been to in multiple cities but NOT THIS LOCATION. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND JUST RUDE. The location is Vance Jackson in San Antonio.
It's a nice little thrift store. It can get packed Wednesday mornings because everything is 0.25 cents but it's also the best time to go cause you can get so much for so little. On Wednesday they are only open to 1130am. I've gone other days during the week and it's not as packed and the store is open later.
I hadn't been here in years, I used to shop here with a friend who introduced me to this place, never had a problem back then. Today they had a decent selection, mostly clothes. I did find some good things. BUT... I did have an issue with the employees. One of them kept sweeping trash onto my feet (ON PURPOSE!!!) when I was just trying to look through the jeans and making me move instead of just coming back around to that aisle after doing another one. She literally stood there with the sweeper in hand and was like MOVE! Then the same lady was telling some of the people in the store (only white people) that they were closed and forcing people to check out 20 minutes before closing. The cashier was the one motioning to her to do all of this. I get that it's a cheap store and it's probably been a long day and they don't want to work anymore... But that's really no way to run a business and expect return customers. I also felt like a part of the sweeping trash on the feet thing was because of my race... And I don't normally say that, I love all races and rarely have issues with anyone, but they were giving me dirty looks from the moment I set foot in the store. I think I'll stick to the Goodwill Bins from now on instead.
This is a great shopping “hole in the wall”. If you don’t do garage sales, you won’t like this place. This is an outlet center and their pricing is cheap. Thursday’s price per piece is $2, Friday is $1.75, then $1.50, $1.25, $1.00, $.50, and $.25 on Wednesday mornings. I was there on Tuesday which is 50 cent day. Every item costs you 50 cents. I found 34 name brand pieces I wanted and paid $17. 2 pieces were brand new and still had the original store tags on them. The inventory is always different and even though they try, it’s not exactly sorted (men’s, women’s, kids) the best. You have to spend some time perusing the racks but I think it’s kinda fun and well worth the extra time it takes. I find it relaxing just zoning out shopping for a couple hours. There is no fitting room and the checkout line can be long depending on when you are there but I think it’s worth the wait. If I get home and something doesn’t fit, well I’m only out 50 cents. Highly Recommend!!
The store offers clothing and shoes but no household items. The racks are not organized by sizes or style of clothing so you have to take the time to search through the racks because everything is mixed together. I didn't mind but I enjoy hunting for bargains. If you don't have patience then you may not enjoy it. The prices alone make it worth it though! I purchased several name brand leather purses for $1.50-$1.00 each. Some looked like they had never been used and a few very nice quality pairs of shoes for the same price. I've been there twice now but I didn't find much in the way of clothing on either trip mostly because there are no dressing rooms so I wasn't able to try things on. The staff was nice and I found the other shoppers polite for the most part. I would recommend it to anyone looking for bargains!
Refills with entirely new selection every Thursday, so prices reset every Thursday and slowly go down through the week. I find it to be organized well enough for shopping and feel people need to remember this is an OUTLET, not a regular thrift store experience. So they don’t have time to thoroughly arrange everything every week before resetting the next. (If you want real chaos go to a Goodwill outlet where vacuums are in the same bins as socks and blenders. 😉) This is great compared to that. There is a LOT of stuff and I totally recommend going here. Note: NO restrooms. NO changing rooms or mirrors. Also they push that the store closes at like 8:45 even though the listed time is 9, so don’t expect to show up at 8:30 and get much shopping done.
Went on a Wednesday (.25 day) they were closed because they were inside stocking for Thursday ($2.25 day). Wasted gas from the SE side of town hoping to make some great deals for homeless shelter & Women's Shelter. Wish they would post their hours so gas & time not wasted!
I was impressed. My best friend and I came here Aug 13th and found so many nice things we needed. Sunday's $1.50 on everything, doesn't matter the brand or material. Unfortunately, the way they have it organized makes it take quite awhile looking for stuff. They have it organized by clothing piece, not by size. They also had two tables that were piled sky high with clothing. I skipped those. They don't have dressing rooms or a bathroom.
It’s not terrible but definitely not my favorite spot. Coming from Roy Mass you can see a HUgE difference in organization and cleanliness. There’s clothes all over the floor and no rhyme or reason to how the clothes are put on racks. You definitely have to take lots of time to look. Lots of clothes is stained or torn. I only return when I have the time and patience for it. Also the girls working are always kind to me.
This store is a disgusting dump. If you like trash then come on over to Family Thrift Outlet. The store was nasty and there weren't even shopping carts. What a waste of gas!
