11/4 Updated Review: Since posting this comment, I have connected with Ryan Kenny. The conversation was great and the miscommunication on both sides of isle has been cleared for a great working relationship moving forward. Again, when your an employee who is facing challenges at work it is imperative to find legal representation that is reliable, available and ready to fight for you and their own law firm. I believe HKM Employment Attorney's is that firm. On 9/23/24 I originally reached out to this firm through their website contact form seeking representation for a possible employee retaliation, discrimination, etc. claim. A lawyer from the firm by the name of Ryan Kenny reached out to me on the 26th to schedule an brief consultation. The call went well he was very professional and I felt that he would be the right person to represent me. A contingency agreement was sent to me the following day but due to traveling for work overseas it took me 7 days to have it legally reviewed and then to sign. The firm received the signed agreement and till this day which is now the 9th day since sending the agreement back I have not heard back from the lawyer I spoke with. I reached out the next day after signing to the firm to confirm it was received and needed to leave a message. There is no live office to communicate but remote intake personel will take your call and respond quickly to your email inquires which is refreshing but not the lawyer you hired. When going through an employment dispute there are so many emotional challenges you face to think that you have hired a professional and some of that stress can be alleviated to very quickly realize they are NOT available to actually work on your case is so disheartening. I waited 4 more days after reaching out to inquire if the lawyer would still be working with me and I got an email from the intake person saying the lawyer is on trial now please be patient they have informed them I have reached out. It is now 5 days later not a word from the lawyer. That response was completely understandable but what was not acceptable is NO response from the lawyer even a simple email to say I have the contingency agreement, thank you for hiring me here is a timeline when we can begin to dive into the situation which woul level set the client and provide realistic expectations. BUT NOT RESPONSE to me this is highly unprofessional especially if they are charging you 40% plus additional fees if they recover anything for you. The sad part of this is this is the second lawyer in Boston to do this so it seems they are taking applications so to speak to have on file not so much to actually pursue your case. The ironic thing about this is I contacted the NAACP to see if they had a recommendation and they immediately connected me with someone who within 48 hours was not only available, lives in DC, handles MA cases for employment matters, had a case load and still is WILLING to represent me and immediately reach out to my employer based on the evidence I uploaded to their personal email. This lawyer is only charging 20%. I had no choice but to immediately request for termination of my signed agreement with HKM due to lack of no response. To be honest I am not sure if this agreement was actually dually executed. In any case the NAACP lawyer not only has scheduled a call with me this morning but had already drafted up a statement to send to my employer based on my original intake call with them yesterday!!!!!, and this morning we are scheduled for a quick sidebar to brief me on what normally takes place after a lawyer steps in sends a demand etc. talk about a quick response to a very delicate and timely situation. I went with HKM'S firm because of the high google reviews but what I should have paid close ATTENTION to was the content in the negative reviews that mention this type of no response in multiple comments. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF A LAWYER IMMEDIATELY WHO SPECIALIZES IN EMPLOYEE LAW.
