My husband and I are frequent travelers to the Caribbean. I took my husband to Cancun for his birthday and, unfortunately, while there I fell and suffered multiple broken bones. After initially being treated at the hospital, I was returned to the resort, where I experienced what I felt was inhumane treatment. I ultimately spent six days hospitalized in Cancun before being medically evacuated back home. When I returned home, I was physically and emotionally devastated. I had always believed that if someone was injured while traveling outside the country, there was little to no legal recourse.
