Ever since Eliza helped perfect my wedding dress 3 years ago, she has been my go-to seamstress for all my tailoring needs. Whether it is a “simple” task like tightening/ shaping a men’s shirt, or a complicated one like creating a different back for an evening gown, Eliza is capable of doing it all. Unlike so many other places in the city, where tailors are often not involved in the initial discussion / measuring leaving their assistants to do such, Eliza is available from Step 1 taking measurements, discussing the issues, and figuring out solutions. She has a great eye to spot problems and has a fabulous sense of style, yet she is open to suggestions and works with the customer to get them what they want. She also charges a very fair price and her turn-around times are totally reasonable . I have come to rely on Eliza’s skill to save/ fix/ enhance pretty much anything in my wardrobe (and my husband’s). So, whether it's the dress that has been languishing in your closet because something about it just doesn’t “feel right”, or it's the one you recently bought for your special occasion that needs alteration, bring them all to Eliza so she can do her magic! You won’t be disappointed!

I have trusted Eliza with my most precious pieces (wedding dress, grandmother’s vintage coats, bridesmaid dresses, etc) and she has done a fantastic job on everything. Fair prices, I look forward to going to Eliza for a long time!

DIVINE work! Eliza was so quick to respond to my call(s) and explained the level of the work she would have to do. She practiced extremely appropriate protocol given COVID-19 and works with clients by appointment. I had three dresses that needed altering (missing/broken zippers and seams) and she fixed them within hours! Very clean and cute space, and she even gave me a free mask! I can now calmly and comfortably attend a wedding this weekend, thanks to this life-saver!

Eliza is fantastic. She knows her stuff and takes pride in her work which shows. She altered a bridesmaid dress for me and did a fantastic job, she was very fast and made sure I got the dress back before the wedding. I will definitely be going back to her for all of my future alterations.

I had a request for a custom t-shirt and needed a quick turn around. Chris was knowledgeable, professional, did an amazing job, and made my deadline! The simple layout was executed perfectly on a high quality T-shirt. Being such a quick turn around, I had to order it sight unseen from someone I didn't know. Chris did not disappoint. I will use him again if the need arises and will definitely recommend his services.

I can not say enough good things about this business! I've ordered 6 printed shirts from them so far and every order comes out amazing! Recently, I wanted a shirt printed and I asked on a Wednesday and they were able to get it done by Friday. I felt terrible for the short notice but they were so kind about it and easy to work with! Chris is awesome and he's very on top of everything! The pickup for my orders is always easy and efficient. I have 2 weddings this year and I definitely want to go to their business for alterations for my bridesmaids dresses. Thank you Chris and the SewWhatandWear team!

I don't normally write reviews but I had to sing Eliza's praises. She is truly gifted at what she does. I brought in my dad's vintage leather jacket to have the lining replaced, and it looks so much better before. The new lining was attached perfectly and the attention to detail is absolutely unmatched. I will absolutely bring any other pieces I need fixed to her in the future!

Such a pleasant experience and a beautiful end result that I'm super happy with. I had a fairly last minute custom hat I wanted to get for my partner. I called and four days later I have what I asked for. Chris was super easy to work with, very responsive, flexible, and patient with me and my indecision about fonts. If you're thinking of working with them, just do it. Can't say enough nice things.

Updating this review after a second project with Chris! I needed 30 sweatsuits with a custom embroidered patch and a printed image. The sets came out better than I could have imagined, were a fantastic price, and were shipped timely across the country. Will be returning for all future projects. Chris did an amazing job helping me to design and execute on a custom embroidered sweatshirt. I needed this done rushed (72 hours) and he delivered above and beyond. Eliza is incredible! I’m very particular and a bit of a perfectionist, so I was nervous about trusting someone with my wedding dress—especially after having bad experiences elsewhere. But from the very first appointment, Eliza made me feel completely at ease. She took the time to listen, explained every detail, and scheduled multiple fittings to make sure everything was perfect. She worked on three of my dresses—my wedding gown, rehearsal dinner dress, and welcome party dress—and each fitting showed how much she cared about getting every detail right. The most amazing part: just days before my destination wedding, I lost weight and my dress no longer fit. Eliza drove in from New Jersey after hours to fix it before my flight. That kind of dedication is beyond rare. Eliza is a perfectionist in the best way—she truly cares about her work and her clients. My dress fit perfectly and I felt beautiful. I couldn’t recommend her more, especially for brides or anyone preparing for a special event!
