Horrible staff that continuously breaks trust with students. The kids only talk about drugs, alcohol, and illegal activities while the staff does nothing to shut it down even when reported. Kids are constantly smoking weed or vaping in the bathrooms and then sharing between students. Absolutely do not recommend this school whatsoever.
This school doesn’t prepare kids and sets them up for failure, when it’s supposed to be another chance for many students. And not to mention how inappropriate it is to have the students who are fully in their adulthood around the minor students. That is a recipe for disaster. I went here in 2015~ although that was quite a while ago, it still burns. This school was supposed to be my chance to graduate on time due to many problematic things transpiring in my home life at the time, it was my last hope towards the end of the year. I was an honor roll student at Hopkins High School, and took AP and college courses. I went to Perpich Center for the Arts before things at home got really bad. I wasn’t the best student, but I was a good student. I worked really hard on my academics because it was means of escape. Once I was here, I flew through the rest of my credits I had gotten behind on in less than 2 months and was actually going to graduate early. The day I was to turn in MY LAST ASSIGNMENT and literally go to my counselor and receive my DIPLOMA, the security guard at the time did the most foul thing. Now, I understand there are rules, especially more stipulations then too. But the severity was unnecessary and the way it happened was unethical. I had used my backpack over the weekend camping with friends. When I had switched my school stuff back, I forgot about a hidden pocket and it’s where a weed bowl was and my bf’s grinder. Mind you, there was no actual weed in either of them. But he found them. And because he knew I was about to finish school, and because he knew I did not have a legal guardian, instead of writing me up (which other kids had gotten written up several times for much worse) he blackmailed me. He gave me 2 options. If I stayed to check in and hand in my work(TO GRADUATE), he would report me to the police (and then, paraphernalia like a grinder, I was looking at a felony and being tried as an adult~ and he made this all very clear to me), OR if I signed the paperwork to drop myself out of the school, I could leave. Some may think that he cut me slack. Lemme remind you, I was a kid trying to get by all on my own and he knew that. And it was weed. He threatened to ruin my life and took away so many opportunities for me to succeed. That man is a prick and this school is a joke. I have since become successful, but I dread the thought~ God forbid that happens to some other kid fighting for their life to cross the finish line.
I got there I'm in 10th grade and they teach us 5th grade to 9th grade work this school is set up to fail students either it goes 💯
