This bar is easy to miss and is not very big inside but it has a lot of true Philadelphia character that is like nothing else in the world. The people are friendly and the beer is cold. I unfortunately on had the loaded tots while I was there but wish I could have tried more. The tots were amazing!
Great food, excellent service. Went here after a show at the Academy of Music. Late night delicious eats. The 1518 burger with a side salad was perfect size and exceptional for after 10pm eats!
If you want to feel like a local, when you’re not, come here. Friendly warm atmosphere. I came here more than once. Great service from Rick encouraged me back, then the same from Dave the bartender
Came for a birthday dinner with family and friends and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! Good place for drinks with friends i think. the food was nice as well, good veggie options and the calamari was great! There were a few mixups with too many of something being brought, like ordering 2 coffees and being brought 4? So be very clear with the waiters. and also, we made a reservation for 8 people, but were sat at a 6 person table with a 2-person table nearby. while our waitress was apologetic, it was not ideal. doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you’d need to specify when making a reservation over a week in advance… but other than that we really enjoyed ourselves and the food & wine.
After just arriving in Philadelphia from Baltimore behind schedule and with everything pretty much closed down. I googled the nearest spot that was still open serving food and this place caught my eye. I must definitely say that I was glad we chose this place, the atmosphere has the classic dive bar aesthetics that I loved. The staff were hospitable and welcoming, the bacon was so good, especially after a few drinks. It wasn’t on the menu but the back of the house cook was nice enough part with a few pieces after my weird request 😆. I enjoyed the experience and will definitely be returning to this spot again.
Do not order a Guinness here…no proper glasses and the worst pour I’ve seen in the city. Food was ok, fries mediocre. Bartender seemed annoyed to be there.
Dropped in 1518 for drinks and had the greatest experience! Christina the bartender was fantastic and super helpful. Can't wait to come and try the food soon!

Hidden on Samson Street between 15 & 16th Streets in Philadelphia, you’ll find 1518 Bar & Grill. Hitting at happy hour was a treat, an extensive appetizer menu is a treat for those who are indecisive like my beautiful wife. Simple things like Mozzarella Sticks, delicious Meatballs in marinara, Fries Pickles and a surprising Shrimp Tempura plate that included mushrooms, zucchini and apples. I this was near home, 1518!would be our place, the hole in the wall with class, Everything was so good. Now, the beer: Is there ever a big beer that may be a little too drinkable? Perpetual IPA would be on the list, hoppy and bitter, yet smooth and clean with a candied fruit sweetness making it very drinkable. I could crush these, but would regret it later. IG: @crafty_fireman
Love the food, the service and the environment 🥰it was full of people but I guess it was because of thanksgiving 🤗💗 I will definitely come back.
