Through formal instruction and hands on labor, participants are given the opportunity to become valued members of the automotive field. Mr. Levesque has built a program that continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at risk youth.
I mate Alex about seven years ago. He's a great guy who don't mine help people out. He was offering a free trade to men and women back then. But unfortunately I was rape up into other things and didn't have the opportunity to gain that trade. But was very thankful of him for that. I'm glad he is still around and doing big things.
I would steer clear from this place. The owner is bipolar if you ask TOO many questions he'll kick you out with your car. He pulled my wrap off my car now its exposed to the elements and rusting. So DO NOT GO THERE. Wanted to charge me $6K for just a paint job, no body work and no moldings and trim removed. But I dont know anything about restoring a car and he got annoyed with all the questions I had. My car was only there a week and we NEVER discussed the work that was needed to be done. Never !! And my car is in Great shape not much body work needed
Haven't visited yet, but I like what's going on there. I plan on taking my son for a visit there. He just turned 17 on March 1, 2020. He's becoming quite the mechanic! Before leaving on our recent road trip to California, he worked on on his 2003 Chevy Astro Van and got it road ready. He changed out all of the fluids, cleaned up the differential, did new brakes on all four wheels (rotors and pads), put new calipers on the rear wheels, put new shocks on the van, and installed new spark plugs. I believe that visiting the Automotive Mentoring Group will just inspire him all the more! I'm hoping that we can help each other.
This is an amazing organization. Alex LeVesque founder of Automotive Mentoring Group is Saving Lives in Chicago with this unique program. Alex cultivates strong work ethic and empowers young people through skill building and job readiness. This is a viable option to have a future instead of being part of the Chicago gang culture. Alex is working to change the lives of the youth in Chicago. This is a great organization to support.

Really nice people there with lots of knowledge and passion for restoring classic cars. They are also doing a wonderful job contributing their experience and expertise to the young people interested in this kind of work.
Do not take your vehicle or your trust to The Automotive Mentoring Group. More than two years ago, I gave my 1978 Jeep to this organization based on their admirable mission to support justice-involved individuals through hands-on automotive work. I believed in the purpose and wanted to support a business doing good in the community. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Over 2.5 years, I was met with broken promises, shifting timelines, and zero accountability from Alex, the owner. He repeatedly told me the Jeep would be restored, but there was never a real plan. After nearly 18 months of excuses, I asked for a clear timeline for completion. Instead, he told me he’d just return the Jeep and refund part of my money. When I got the vehicle back, it was mechanically destroyed: Completely dismantled Wiring stripped Radiator and motor unattached No reassembly plan, no documentation, and no apology While the Jeep wasn’t in pristine shape when it went in, it was at least in one piece. What I got back was a shell of a vehicle that now requires nearly $20,000 just to get running. It’s essentially unsalvageable. Worse still, I’ve learned that the participants in the program aren’t being paid. While they may be gaining skills, that’s not enough—people reentering society need financial resources, not just training. It’s disheartening to see the founder making public appearances and raising money while failing to deliver on the commitments he’s already made. I wanted to believe in Alex. I wanted to support this mission. But all I’m left with is a scrapped dream, a dismantled Jeep, and a massive financial loss. The Automotive Mentoring Group may have a good story—but they failed in every possible way to deliver.
