I'm so grateful for the opportunities Goodwill has provided for me to become a CNA. My instructor Mrs. Ida is the best, she truly cares about all of her students and their success. The staff is great and very helpful. I love Goodwill Academy.

I feel like it's unfair that I got turn down because of my back ground and all I'm trying to do is go to school so I can turn my life around and provide for my family, I thought good will academy was a good program for people that are giving a second chance.

They offer courses for $3000 in CompTIA A+ certification!! Their statistics say that 98% of their students get jobs after graduation without precising that most of them got jobs that are not related to what they were trained for (minimum wage jobs). By the way, you won't get your A+ certification after the completion of that course. Their classes are not accredited by any college.

I was actually one of the first students to graduate from this program back in 2008 .I completed the CNA program which was about 5 weeks long. I paid a total of $900 back in that day .That included books and exam fee. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I do believe there are financial assistance programs for low income students. They helped me find work after graduation. Which amounted to a job of $10@ hour at university hospital. It was a good experience .It inspired me to seek higher education . Fast forward 2018, ten years later. I obtained my Masters in Social Work .But it was thanks to this program that allowed me to put one foot in the door in my journey to a higher education. Would highly reccomend it for any one looking for a stepping stone or to just to get one foot in the door if you are looking into nursing school or other healthcare profession fields.

I am thoroughly impressed! The staff is helpful and very knowledgeable, helping you navigate your way into a career. They make the process very straightforward and simple. If only other agencies made it this simple. It would make things a lot easier for people trying to better themselves, and take the steps that are needed to obtain a more fulfilling life style!

Wonderful opportunity. I participated in the pharmacy technician course and was disappointed in my experience with the instructor Susan /Susanna Soliz. You learn early on that she does NOT like to repeat anything more than twice and if you try to have it repeated more than twice (especially when soliz goes though materials fast, just to see if you can keep up) soliz will either just ignore you or respond in a short, breif and irritating manner. I tried to bring this issue to Todd her supervisor and was reassured the situation would be addressed and resolved but that Monday morning Soliz made a announcement to the entire class that she would not be changing her teaching methods because in her words "it works". I reached out to Soliz on 3diffrent occasions to try to resolve the situation between us two (because after reaching out to Todd that did not sit too well with her) but it seemed to not improve. Things came to a halt when Soliz decided to make a statement in front of the entire class directed at myself that was unprofessional, unnecessary, and uncalled for. Soliz trys to make pharmacy technicin course a lot harder than need be . I have over heard conversations from students in class say the same thing , that she is confusing and does not explain topics thoroughly . I walked away after finding a easier way to achieve my goal, I would rather pay than to have to deal with a instructor who honestly is just there for a paycheck and has had the nerve to say to a student in front of the class that I can't have your back if you don't have mine??? Says a lot about her intentions and integrity. Soliz is OBVIOUSLY just there for a check and not for the greater good of the students. I write this review in hopes that someone higher up (higher than the camaraderie that is obviously at good careers academy)can read this review and make a VERY MUCH NEEDED change, to prevent another student from dropping out early. I truly appreciate the opportunity but not the experience.

The school and the CNA training are great, it is the proctor who works for prometric who is the problem. The proctor passes and fails which ever students she feels like, this is evident as there are students who do very well during the written exams, clinicals, and in the classroom settings themselves and they do not pass the skills portion of the CNA training. The proctor will say that a student forgot a certain step during the skills test, and will not honor the words "I need to make a correction". when a student does make a mistake. There are other students who have also said the same thing. According to the Prometric rules a student must say those very words and make the correction in order to pass the skills part of the CNA exam. Unfortunately prometric is no help either as they will take the side of the proctor over the student.
