My experience with Hejirika Law during the sale of my property raised serious concerns about transparency, communication, and professionalism. To be clear, the staff was very friendly and professional in person. At the time of closing on April 21, 2025, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I left genuinely pleased with the experience. However, what happened after closing changed that impression significantly. I signed all required documents on April 21 and was told that funds would be disbursed that same day. What I was not told—and only discovered through follow-up efforts—was that the buyer had not yet signed. I received no confirmation that the buyer had performed by the contractual deadline of April 22. Due to the lack of clarity and the impact on time-sensitive business obligations, I submitted a formal written withdrawal on April 23. Despite this, the deed was recorded and funds were disbursed on April 24—after the buyer signed and after my written withdrawal had already been submitted. I was never informed that the buyer had missed the deadline. I only confirmed this through the ALTA settlement documents, not from the law office. When I raised my concerns, I received a written response from Mr. Hejirika stating that I “clearly do not understand how real estate law operates,” and that the buyer had seven days to perform—despite no such clause appearing in the contract. He also claimed that I should have contacted the buyer directly, even though his office was the closing intermediary. Most concerning, when I mentioned filing a grievance, he responded: “If you proceed with a Bar complaint, we will have no choice but to respond in kind through the courts.” I interpreted this as an attempt to intimidate me from exercising my rights. That statement is what ultimately prompted this review. I have over 20 years of experience in real estate transactions, both as a buyer and a seller, and I have never encountered a situation where critical performance deadlines were not disclosed or where a closing proceeded after a clear written withdrawal. A formal grievance has been filed with the North Carolina State Bar. Every point mentioned here is supported by signed contracts, closing documents, and time-stamped email communications. This review reflects my direct experience and is offered to encourage diligence and full transparency in any legal closing process.
