I honestly cannot get over how great everyone is here after living in the building for six months now. Chris at the leasing office is one of the friendliest and most helpful people I've encountered in leasing. He responds immediately to any request and is honestly a joy to work with. Izzy and Bettina are also incredible. I actually chose to live at the unit because of a tour with Izzy. They gave the impression that they truly cared about their tenants and it has been proven true. Lastly, maintenance here is responsive and they go above and beyond. I've worked with Melissa several times and she is always extremely helpful. She will make sure that everything is fixed and perfect. I'm so appreciative of this entire team. I'm so thankful I chose P&L Apartments over my other options. I really love the people here and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
There’s a lot of rich history in Kansas. Definitely worth checking out for yourself.
Great City apartments with huge windows, very conducive layout to relaxation. I went to visit a friend's apartment and immediately felt cozy and comfortable like I just wanted to sit in front of one of those huge Windows watch it snow and read a book. Vibrant area of the city. I've been gone for a while and was delighted to see how Kansas City has finally grown up. The Integrity of the outside of the building remains making it one of the most beautiful buildings downtown.

Completed in 1931 during the heart of the Great Depression, it was originally constructed as the headquarters for the Kansas City Power and Light Company to boost local jobs and economic confidence. At 34 stories tall, this Art Deco masterpiece was not only a marvel of engineering but also the tallest building west of the Mississippi River for decades.  The design by Hoit, Price & Barnes reflects the bold optimism of its era. Its clean vertical lines, stepped-back profile, and decorative sunburst motifs — symbols of light and energy — make it one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the United States. The exterior is clad in Indiana limestone, while its ground-level base features granite and intricately detailed ornamentation that draws admiration from architectural enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.  One of the building’s most memorable features is its lantern-topped spire. Originally designed with red and orange glass panels creating a dramatic flame-like glow, its lighting has been modernized with LED technology that bathes the tower in a rotating spectrum of colors each night — often aligned with sports events, holidays, or causes.  Today, the Power and Light Building is much more than a relic of the past. A major renovation transformed much of the historic structure into luxury apartments, and portions of the interior house elegant event spaces like The Grand Hall at Power & Light, which retain much of the rich Art Deco detailing while serving as a unique backdrop for weddings, corporate events, and celebrations.  Although it no longer functions as a traditional “gallery,” images and architectural detail throughout both the exterior and interior serve as a living showcase — a gallery of history, design, and cultural evolution. Visitors to downtown Kansas City often pause in awe of its glowing lantern and grand presence, a beacon of the city’s past achievements and its modern urban renaissance.
I’ve seen people say it’s haunted, but I’ve been here 94 years and haven’t seen anything weird. It’s the bee’s knees.
