The family and I are on vacation in KC. We was looking for a place to have lunch and decided on Smaxx. And let me tell ya. It was a good decision. The service was amazing and fast. And the food was even better. Will definitely go back next time we visit KC.
This is the second time I have ordered from them via DoorDash. Everytime there has been a issue. Either you get the wrong order or you are missing items. The pictures of the food do NOT match the items that you get. For example the Diva Cheeseteak in the picture has bacon, cheese and jalapeños on it. When I received mine, it was just chopped up chicken in a bun. NO cheese, bacon or jalapeños. They also do not answer the phone when you call. I’ve called multiple times regarding issues with me orders, no answer. I will NOT be ordering from them again. Not will I recommend them to anyone.
My husband really enjoyed his Fried Chicken Sandwich, and I absolutely loved my 4-Alarm Burger. We spilt a large basket of Fries, and it was HUGE. We highly recommend SMAXX.
Great customer service and friendly employees! I had the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp and fries were seasoned well and everything was perfectly crispy/crunchy. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends and family!
Second visit, and it did not disappoint! First time I went I had the shrimp basket, and it was hands down one of the best I've had. Second time I got the Shrimp Rich Boy with fries, and it was yummy! I'm not a good judge when it comes to po' boy type sandwiches, as it was my first one I had ever had--still good! The staff is extremely welcoming and very nice. They make you feel like a regular as soon as you walk in even if it's your first time. Plus, they give you a TON of food. I'm a girl that likes being offered big servings so I can take some home with me for later, and SMAXX does that without fail each time.
Their food is Excellent! I am particularly fond of their brisket fries! It is enormously satisfying and taste so good. The reason for the 3 *'s is simply the inconsistent pricing. (Long Story, Long) Today was no exception, previously I have walked in to order and the price on the menu is $8 which is phenomenal! However I was charged $9+ tax, when I brought up the price difference I was told the price is $9 & the menu needs to be updated. With little push-back the menu price was honored. My next visit the same issue, I brought up the price difference (menu still wasn't updated) and the price was NOT honored. Fine. $9 still isn't bad, it's a lot of food. Today I called in my order and just knew the price was $9 bc, previous visits and that's what I was told over the phone, $9. I get to the window and my total is $10.84. Curious I ask, "almost $2 tax?" And was told that's just what the computer says the price is. MA'AM YALL TOLD ME $9 ON THE PHONE? Bottom line I would be willing to pay about $12 for that item bc it is so good and it is a lot of food. But I would insist that they are consistent with their prices and honor what they tell the guest over the phone or on the menu.
