I admired Solar States 10 years ago. I was a happy customer 5 years ago. Today, I'm still happy with the care they still provide. I'm even more proud that I worked with them when I had the chance. Look – A big part of your solar installation is the warranty. The solar company has to stay in business for the warranty to mean anything. Solar States, thank goodness, has staying power. I liked working with them because they were honest, and they cared for my roof, which I was super worried about. It's also cool that they often have trainees come out to observe the work! They are building the workforce of the future, and I'm all for that.

Chris made everything easy from the beginning and was very transparent. Solar is saving me big time $$$ give it a shot!

The staff are competent and the experience was really informative. At all stages of the process, the organization kept me informed and engaged. The organization was able to support me in my effort to generate 100% of my energy demand from my roof. The feeling of being independent for my energy needs is wonderful. We've had a very negative experience with solar states that is going on 3 years now. They were very quick to get us an estimate and get paperwork signed and the deposit paid. I understand that the start of the pandemic delayed the installation of our solar system. However after the solar system was installed it has been over two years and are SREC applications with the state has still not gone through. Every time we contact government agencies they tell us that paperwork is missing or misfiled or late and only the solar installer can correct it. Every time we follow up with solar states they pretend they have no idea what the star agencies are talking about. They haven't been able to give any clear answers on why it's taken over two years for this process and why it's still not complete. Their staff turnover is so high that the point person that we talked to changes every 6 to 12 months. I definitely would not recommend working with this company as it is an incredibly frustrating experience and they don't seem invested in getting the job done given how they've arranged their payment schedule. The best I can say is they are incompetent. The worst on some days when I've spent another hour on the phone on hold with the state's clean energy program saying yet again that our application is about to expire and needs to be corrected is that Solar States is a scam.

I am EXTREMELY happy about my decision to have Solar States install my system. When power bill went from trivial sums in the low light winter to just a tiny monthly service charge, I was pleased. But as power rates have risen, so has the value of the energy my system generates, that was very unexpected. For the past year my energy bill has been zero despite the hot cloudy summer of 2025. I have been retired for over 10 years and I run my central air nonstop as I am at home most hot summer days. I calculate my energy costs would be over $500 a month if my use was not covered entirely by that wonderful system you installed in 2015. To say I am overjoyed is an understatement! The $440 solar credit that Knollwood pays me is the icing on the cake. When the topic of solar panels is raised, I always give Solar States my heartfelt endorsement. In my 70 years I have made some bad choices, but I am blessed to have made more good choices than bad. I can easily say that buying my system outright from Solar States ranks as one of the best decisions of my life. Each month when I go out to the meter to report my production to Knollwood, I feel like kissing the ground, it makes me that happy!

We had our solar panels installed in 2022, and our project planner was really thorough so that we could make the best choice for our house. The installers were also great to work with - we ran into an extremely weird issue with the roof surface, and they were very flexible as we got it fixed. The delays to completion were minimal.

Solar States did an outstanding job installing a top rate system at a great price. They worked hard to get all of the necessary approvals and permits as quickly as possible. The system has been running well for about 8 years now and should result in our home being run on 100% renewable energy for 25+ years. I would reach out to them and get your solar installed ASAP this year before the 30% tax credit goes away.

Do not invite this company to your neighborhood. Their drivers blow through stop signs while children are standing in the crosswalk. They are dangerous nuisance to the neighborhood when they’ve been invited in to install solar. They are unsafe to the neighborhood and community. I called to communicate and speak with someone in charge about how this issue could be resolved in the customer service representative hung up the phone. I don’t take writing a one Stehr Google business review lately. But this is a company I would never do business with based on their poor customer service and they’re inability to respect the neighborhoods that they are invited into.

Probably the best solar installer in and around the Philadelphia area. As one of the companies vetted and approved by the city, we contracted with them in 2018 for an 18-panel installation and had a great experience. They took care of all the paperwork, permits, and inspections and completed the installation portion in two and a half days. There were two slight issues that they remedied, with only one being their fault. First, the panels were delivered late in the day to the house by a 3rd party, for installation the next day. This 3rd party stacked them in the street where someone could have driven into them while trying to park. The panels and separators were black, and we were concerned given the money we had just laid out for them. I called Solar States and one of their field workers came in about 30 minutes, well after normal business hours, and moved them into our enclosed porch, at no extra cost. Fantastic! The second issue was while reviewing the solar generation map, I noticed that some panels weren't where the map said they should be. Panels right next to one another were generating vastly different amounts of electricity for no apparent reason. It became clear that they were wired incorrectly or at least not in sync with how the monitoring software said they should be. After some back and forth, Solar States sent out a team to redo part of the wiring, again at no cost. This fully resolved the issue, and we haven't had any problems with their work since then, 6 years on. One of the other aspects of Solar States that was a factor in deciding to go with them is that they had training and apprenticeship positions for local young people to get experience in this relatively new and growing field. All the great customer service coupled with the fact that they are helping increase the number of installers and well as providing a path for people (perhaps) without degrees to make a good living is a real plus and a service to the community. I highly recommend them…and do to anyone that asks about our panels.

I had 11 solar panels installed on my roof by solar states in Fall of 2021 and have absolutely loved them! I found the company to be extremely professional and timely with their design, planning, and implementation. The entire system was installed in one day and has held up well. I had one panel that was not absorbing as much energy as it should, and they kindly replaced it within a week of me reaching out to them. Since the roof installation, I have also asked them to design a solar canopy for my rooftop (which I have not installed yet), which was a very easy process. The next project I will have them do is install a consumption meter so I can see exactly how much energy I am using vs producing at all times of the day.
