So impressed! My jacket alteration came out perfect—like it was made that way. On time, great work, and very friendly. Highly recommend!
So impressed by their work. I brought in a jacket to be altered and the finished product was as if it were made like that to begin with. The work was done on time and turned out better than I expected. They're really nice people too. I'm going to upgrade my entire wardrobe by bringing all my items to them.
I didn't expect to have such an amazing job done here! I had a brand new designer miniskirt , work pants from all that I actually tried to hem myself and a zipper broken on a pair of jeans. When I tell you it looks like these are simply new articles of clothing that were never touched and done immaculately I'm not exaggerating!
I originally found this place on Yelp after getting disappointed with my old tailor. I've been going to Wagner for about a year now for pretty much everything that needs tailoring, and they've always been doing a decent job. So far there has only been one time where the first alteration didn't fit me well (some silk pants that were too baggy to begin with, and actually I didn't accept them until the third time), but they have no problem taking back the item and redo it with no extra charge. I sometimes also ask for their opinions of whether something should be tailored and they would give honest opinions. This place is also reasonably priced - a little more expensive than my old tailor but the quality of the work is worth the extra. The location is convenient (currently there is scaffolding above the entrance so it may be hard to spot), and the place is clean and spacious. They would give you a receipt after receiving the clothes and tell you when to pick up (most times I go picking up past the due date, but those times when I do go on the day of, the clothes have always been ready). This place is CASH ONLY. There is a Bank of America right across the street so cash only is not a big deal.
Ruined my Miu Miu jacket and still made me pay for it. Put a huge chrome MARC NEW YORK zipper instead of just using the broken zipper I provided for my jacket. Unreal
Had a belt taken in for a formal event out of the country. Told them to take off the length of the buckle when I was getting fitted, but noticed no markings were made on the belt so figured he would just remember. Just picked up the belt and it was so tight that I could barely breath. Not a belt with any adjustment possible which is why I needed to get it tailored, but it is elastic so the fact that I couldn't breathe shows how tight it was. The guys at the desk were rude and basically said not much we can do even though I told him it was a mistake prob due to not making markings when originally measuring. After some back and forth, they said I didn't have to pay after I was adamant that it wasn't what I asked for originally. That's the only reason I gave them 2 stars. Only tried this place because it is close to my office, but going back to my previous tailor after this experience!
i'm very impressed with their service ... they called me during the winterstorm to let me know that they are there and my altered suit was ready to be picked up. Tried the suit on and the fitting was perfect. Excellent job on the suit alteration.
CN: They did an excellent job taking the waist down of a wool pea coat for only $35. I could not be happier. Bring cash, he doesn't take credit. Full story is below... 1. I have a 10" drop (difference between chest size and waist size). 2. I don't like spending a lot of money. This unique combination of traits leads to a closet of clothes that don't fit very well. To be frank, I didn't realize my clothes didn't fit well until I moved to New York. (In Chicago, it is more acceptable to have a shirt that resembles a tent.) I realized that my J Crew pea coat (which i bought at the outlet) fits well in my chest/shoulders, but not at the waist. After doing quite a bit of research online and hearing stories of how tailors would not alter heavy coats (or do so at a price greater than the cost of the coat), I decided to drop by Wagner's. Thanks to the thorough review done by other yelpers, I quickly found his shop (go into the gift shop and up the stairs on your left). Before I committed to having it altered, I asked him for the price... He asked for $35! I agreed right away, and after a few pinches, pins, and a couple chalk lines, I was out the door. To be perfectly frank, I was worried on whether or not the coat would fit correctly after such a quick consultation. He was literally done in 30 seconds. I just picked up my coat, the fit is perfect, the work is of high quality, and I couldn't be more pleased. I basically got a custom coat for an extra $35. I'm already thinking of what else I can have him tailor for me...
Honestly one of the best prices I’ve ever seen for tailoring services in NYC. Was quoted almost triple on the UWS. Wagner’s was efficient, easy, and an incredibly fast turnaround. Only note is it’s cash only on pickup; they make this clear. Will make this my go-to tailor!
They are excellent! Pants hemming cost $15 Also nice location, next to J station in Fulton.
