Came here for the first time yesterday. We’ve been wanting to come here for the last 10 years and never did until yesterday. It was well worth the wait. The ambience was perfect made it feel super cozy and inviting. Once seated we were greeted by our waitress Elizabeth C. She was beyond sweet was able to help us navigate the menu and give us her suggestions . As well as explaining each dish throughly . We ended up going with two rounds of gougeres which were delicious and well worth it . As well as the Cesar salad, shrimp, and the prime rib amongst other dishes we tried . Everything was absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef(s) of the evening, they did a wonderful job. Upon Elizabeth bringing us our main course of the prime rib she gifted us a complimentary glass of wine that paired perfectly with our meal. This is definitely a 10/10 place. We will be back again and would love to have Elizabeth again.
If you are not a vegetarian, please take this review with a grain of salt since we did not taste the meat dishes. We ordered three things - the gougères, crispy oyster mushrooms and the panisse. The gougères were bland. Not only did they lack any flavor whatsoever, but they also weren’t seasoned adequately. For a dish that sounds so good on paper (choux puffs stuffed with cream and cheese) we were extremely disappointed and despised the dish. The crispy oyster mushrooms were….well crispy oyster mushrooms. They did not have any flavor that stood out because the aioli served with them was also just okay. My issue with this one was that they had a meaty taste which seemed like it was a result of frying them in the same oil as meat. Panisse was good because it was served with this lip-smacking creamy eggplant dip in the base alongside some cherry and sundried tomatoes. The panisse themselves could do with more seasoning and adding some herb to the chickpea batter would have taken it to the next level. I have had the real deal in South of France (the place where it originated) and adding herbs to the panisse makes a monumental difference in the flavor. We ended up spending ~$35 per person for three dishes which was absolutely not worth it. My advice to the management would be to season these dishes to add some more flavor and price them appropriately. As for all vegetarians reading this review - give this place a miss. You aren’t losing out!
A random pick for us since we were staying nearby at the Rittenhouse Hotel for the Flower Show. I am glad we chose it! It was one of the best restaurant meals I have experienced. My comparison, not in style or cuisine because they are so different but in quality of food is Jose Andres Zaytinya in DC or La Bernardin in NYC
A little loud but the service was good, really liked the chickpea panisse, the half chicken excellent, not crazy abt the dessert with too much hazelnut creme but everything great otherwise.
Stopped in for brunch during a holiday visit to PHL. A Kitchen is cozy and the food was excellent. I had the wagyu steak frites (with egg) and a biscuit - it was as good as it looks - see photo.
Both experiences I had here were subpar. I feel like there’s some potential but it’s clearly not realized I won’t be back. The first experience was a terrible take out experience- my order was ready for pickup so I came to get it but the staff said it wasn’t. I sat there waiting at the bar for almost 30 minutes, while my food, which had I guess been misplaced, sat over on a hook on the wall. I finally got it when I said I needed to leave and if it wasn’t in the works I’d need to cancel my order. The food was pretty awful. Hamburger patties overly salty, the little breads filled with cheese tasted pre frozen, the potato wedges were terrible. I’m not sure how you mess up a potato wedge but they did. The second time I ate in the restaurant and ordered the steak frites. Again, horrible potato wedges, but the worst part was that the steak was so tough, all the way through, it was nearly inedible. Really all around disappointing.
Any of the mushroom dishes are amazing! The smoked Monkfish was a little strong for me but still manageable. Service is exceptional. Lastly, the seating is very close to other people but I guess that's unavoidable when the restaurant capacity is on the smaller end.
I have the opportunity to use my Chase Sapphire reserve card for the bonus credits. The food was excellent, and the portions were very generous. We really enjoyed the wait staff and the general atmosphere.
Ate brunch at the kitchen and sampled a variety of beverages at the bar, whilst staying at the AKA Rittenhouse hotel. The kitchen and bar were always busy during our recent stay, which indicates that these venues are popular with patrons. Tasty food offerings and drinks, provided by friendly, helpful and attentive staff.
The service was great. Bartender helped me out with picking my food and describing their dessert. He also gave me recommendations for my trip. 10/10 service! I got the burger, I wanted the chicken liver but I wouldn't get enough protein it sounded so good! The burger was incredible, it has a Dijon mustard that looks to be made in the kitchen, with a nice toasty bun! 10/10 My dessert idk how to pronounce or write it out but it was one of the desserts I have had in a long time it gave me goosebumps 11/10.
