I've been going to Alma Mader since late 2019 and they have remained my favorite KC brewery ever since. Their beers are so clean, flavorful, and well constructed. Their hoppy beers are ridiculously good, but I think their lineup of pilsners and other lagers really show how talented they are. 5-star brewery!
A crew of 6 of us went here last night and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the beers. They consisted of two germans, a Belgian, porter and numerous pale ales and ipa's. They also have crowlers available if you want to take some with you. I am not an ipa or pale ale guy so was a little hesitant. I enjoyed the Helles and the Wit first followed by the porter and their DIPA which was excellent. They do allow outside food as they serve nothing other than beer, root beer and water. The space is a little sparse and gets noisy when crowded and either the AC was broken or they didn't want to turn it on. It was fairly muggy and warm. There was a single ceiling fan running and one or two others, but it still was too warm imho. Hopefully they get that remedied. Will be back and reserve the last star for consistency. I have been to most or all of the breweries in KC and this is a stellar start.
After visiting nearly all the breweries in kc area in 2021 Alma Mader is #1 out of 35 breweries visited. If you like ipa's ddh ipa's or pale ales this is the place for you. They also have maybe the best pilsner in town (premiant). Stouts are also very good. Nick Mader has a a knack for mixing various hops to arrive at a perfect blend that is always stellar and never overpowering.
Best brewery in KC. Amazing crispy pilsners and lagers, stouts, and hazy pale ale type stuff. Taproom is beautiful and they have really good taste in music.
5 year update... I still love stopping in here for a beer with friends. I love the various takes they have in IPAs and the pilsner. Keep up the great work! Really enjoyed the experiences I have had here. Great beer and easy going atmosphere.
Dog friendly inside and outside (leashed and well behaved pups only of course). Really solid beers with a lot of variety. Casual spot for a couple draughts. Great Mexican food on Saturday’s from Valentina’s.
Very cool brewery and space. The bartenders were super nice - they recommended a couple beers based on my preference and also helped me when I had an issue with my phone. Absolutely recommend! Their indoor space is nice, and they also have an outside area for when the weather is good.
High quality IPAs. Arguably one of the best breweries in the city without question and a cozy spot. Really good and worth checking out.
Awesome brewery in downtown Kansas City. We got two great tasting ipa beers there. Great place to get great beer and hangout. Very chill. Good service. They offer some very small snacks. I would visit this brewery again.
Best brewery in KC/surrounding area. They even let me back in after I left the self-serve water pitcher running by accident, so quality people all the way around. The beer speaks for itself no doubt...all legit!
