Amazing beer with lots of styles to choose from. Pils and Czech styles are great, IPAs are incredible, and dark, barrel-aged stuff is just amazing. Hard to find such a well-rounded brewery and this is the best in KC! Great bartenders, and nice brewery space with good music choices. Keep playing The Wonder Years!
Alma Mader consistently holds or competes for the "best brewery in KC" title. Their expertise across a variety of beer styles is nearly unmatched — they can knock out a killer Hazy IPA, but also make expertly crafted lagers, and even decadent imperial milk stouts on a regular basis. I don't think I've ever had a beer from them that I didn't enjoy or recommend to others. The brewery space is clean, bright and airy. It's not huge but definitely feels open and spacious. When the weather's nice, they recently added an outdoor seating area where you can soak up some sun while sipping on beers, and they'll often raise a large garage door in the side room to make things feel even more open. There are a handful of N/A beverage options and a few snacks on the menu as well. Honestly, you won't find anything crazy or excessive in the Alma Mader taproom, but they don't need it. They make some of the absolute best beers in the city, if not the region, and provide a comfortable and welcoming space to enjoy them with friends and family. A must-stop if you consider yourself a beer person!
If you’re a beer head, this is your place in KCMO. Cool little tasting room, super friendly beer tenders and excellent beer! They even let me play my son’s band on their sound system!
Easily the best brewery in the city, hampered only by the parking situation. They are IPA skewed on taps, but the true star is the bottle program (currently rotates monthly, look for a green menu by the register)
Bold move setting up shop next to Boulevard. Located in an inconspicuous converted warehouse, this brewery is well worth visiting. The beers were well crafted and one of the owner/bartenders was very friendly. Very clean brewing setup with a satisfying minimalist tasting room interior design. Brew house reminded me of the sanitation standards of the late Heisenberg. Keep up the good work.
Phenomenal brewery. Their beer is outstanding & enjoyable no matter which style you like. Their hazy IPAs are about as good as I've ever had, and they have great lagers if you prefer that. The service is excellent, and all the people serving are wonderful.
This is not just an excellent KC brewery, Alma Mader should be consider one of the best small businesses in the US. A family-size operation making beer at this technical level is hard to come by. This is the sort of quality and expertise you would expect in an old world setting, with production lessons passed down thru the generations. Bravo.
Great new brewery down on SW Boulevard. We enjoyed some tasty new beers in a well designed space. The founder (Nick) is a really nice guy too - he gave us a quick tour of the brewery before they opened on a First Friday evening. Excited to add this place to the mix!
Easily best brewery in Kansas City. And yes, much better than boulevard too--makes them seem like just another mass beer producer. Alma mader carefully and with love crafts beer that will always amaze you and keep you going back. True craft beer.
