Scam artists. They stole my car from a legal parking space and told us the ransom would be $175 while I was filing out paperwork. We were told to go to an ATM and come back with cash. The price suddenly went up to $200 when we got back. A friend drove me here, parked in a paid parking spot, and also got towed while we were inside paying them. Shady AF
This is an extortion racket. Predatory towing practices of especially out of town vehicles. When you go to the impound lot with pictures of the signs saying you were allowed to park where you got towed from, they tell you to go to court and they can't help you. Terrible experience, and supremely unhelpful staff.
The two ladies inside were very pleasant, (and that must be hard since many people are angry about being towed.). The woman who I settled up with was a typist who should be working for a lot more pay in some fancy office! Serious Skills!!! Once all the paperwork was signed, I was directed to find my car by Roy, the security guard. He was exceedingly pleasant and gave me good instructions to use to get to my next destination. There are only 3 stars because, as many other reviews state, the signs where my car was parked did not give any indication of towing possibility at certain times. Also, take a CAB there - they know where they are going. Do not use Uber or Lyft.
First of all when you call to get information on a towed vehicle, they are helpful, however, they will tell you, the address is 400 E. lower Wacker when, the actual address is 500 E lower Wacker. Once we arrived the attendants were nice...they just don't know the address where they work. as if, lower Wacker isn't confusing enough! forget about using GPS, Because it loses signal.
The fact of the matter is that this establishment is understaffed and it shouldn’t take 2 hours to get my car back after queuing up in line. What’s going on back there? The process needs to be streamlined. Embarrassment for the city of Chicago.
This place illegally towed my car. I was parked perfectly legal, around 11:20am and my car was towed around 11:40… makes no sense. Walked pack to pay my meter at 1:00 which means the 2 hours were not up. I called the police, city of Chicago, and the parking company and they said there was no reason to tow me. I finally got the address of the towing place, which was super hard to find. Asked the tow place why I was towed and they said they can’t discuss that with me…? This place is also disgusting in a gross part of town.

Let alone when others follow directives from subordinates that will put them in a tough and compromising situation — accomplices to a crime. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW--especially how to get here: 1. Do not call the number provided on the website--no one will answer or if they do, you won't get full, reliable information. 2. They only take cash--$175 is the base, an extra $25 per day that your car sits there. 3. V IMPORTANT--if you are not the owner of your car and your license doesn't match the address of the owner of the car, you HAVE to get a notarized letter that states the owners name, who they're giving authority to to pick up the car, car make, license plate, and VIN. It also has to be printed out. You don't want to take a chance on a worker telling you they won't print it out for you. 4. If you were towed for your parking permit being expired, they will not let you pick up your car until you've gotten a new parking permit from city hall or anywhere else that gives them out. 5. HOW TO GET THERE-- when you take the Grand Avenue exit from LSD south or north, head towards Lower Wacker and stay in the left lane. The first signal to turn left is Columbus Drive and you'll see a small sign in red and white that says "Auto Pound <--." You'll never see a sign again. Once you make the left turn, stay in the right lane and follow the green sign that says "lower level" and that'll take you to lower, lower wacker aka the bowels of the City of Chicago. Once you take that ramp down, take a sharp left, basically a u-turn and proceed straight. This is lower, lower Columbus. Keep going straight and then the road curves right (which basically becomes lower, lower wacker). Keep going until you see a shack looking thing on the left. There'll be a white sign that says "Auto Pound" and an "Entrance" sign up top.
Honestly this place doesn’t even deserve a star, the service is very unprofessional, we paid the parking fee, but our car got towed for no clear reason and we didn’t even know our car got towed and finding the place was very hard. And they charged unreasonable vehicular recovery prices on top of paying our parking fee, please be cautious while parking in this city, and please carry your valuables with you!!!
I guess city of Chicago resolved all its problems since they have time to patrol at streets at night and if someone comes to pick up their vehicle 15 minutes after 11 pm its already gone, they are so efficient in that. Plus they will give you a ticket before towing it. Just to visit their facility and see the faces of the people who work there you will realize what kind of a business and place this is
