Briefly stopped in during the holidays. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the season and the staff was very friendly.

I’ve traveled extensively, but this is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. From the service and staff’s professionalism to the facilities and upkeep—everything is impeccable. True to its rich and distinguished history, every staff member, from the front desk and concierge to the bell desk, carries themselves with pride and elegance. If you ever come to D.C., you must stay here. You’ll feel like you’re right in the middle of history—it’s truly exhilarating. I love that the suites are named after presidents and each comes with its own fascinating story. And who knows? You might even catch a glimpse of a president. As for tonight, I wonder if I’ll run into President Lincoln! 😄

We arrived at midday to check in. After waiting 15 minutes to speak to someone we weee told the room wasn’t ready and they would text us when it was. We didn’t receive a message until after 4pm! This is totally unacceptable. Obviously a staffing issue.

Wonderful hotel! They achieve a sense of laid back relaxation along with top quality service, so that I always felt at home. Staff are super helpful and informed but friendly and approachable too. Rooms were delightful, spacious and so quiet. The outdoor Cafe du Parc is a real oasis where you can enjoy a peaceful coffee in the shade the DC crowds. Particular mention to Stefan, who was so very helpful in accommodating my dietary requirements and took the time and trouble to recommend bakeries in DC that I might be able to buy milk free croissants. Success at Pret! The Intercontinental the Willard will be my go-to in DC now.

Great experience from start to finish. Right at the heart of where I needed to be. Check-in was flawless. Rooms great, I arrived 30 min prior to check in, had booked a King room. I was given a room with 2 queens, when I raised this - I was moved without question. French restaurant is decent, not great but solid and decent meal after a long day. Only negative was every room was freezing!! Meeting rooms, restaurant, bar - literally everything was 68f and I was frozen the entire time.

Outstanding hotel in the heart of everything you want to see in DC. We stayed for 6 days for an anniversary trip in a Junior Suite, and we were so pleased we selected The Willard. The American Express benefits make staying even more special with a breakfast package, early check-in, and late check-out, along with a credit to spend wherever you wish. We chose to enjoy drinks in the Round Robin Bar nightly, which is a cozy bar with awesome bartenders. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations

We recently attended the Côte d’Ivoire Embassy’s 65th Independence Day celebration at the Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C., and it was nothing short of fantastic. The event took place in the Willard Ballroom, a stunning and elegant space that perfectly matched the significance of the occasion. The hotel itself exudes luxury from the moment you walk in : beautiful architecture, refined décor, and a timeless sense of prestige. The staff was exceptionally professional and attentive, making the evening even more enjoyable. We avoided the valet parking (which is understandably pricey given the prime location just steps from the White House) by taking the Metro, which was a hassle-free choice. That said, if you do opt for valet, it’s worth remembering that convenience in this part of D.C. always comes at a premium. All in all, The Willard delivered a truly memorable experience, and I can see why it’s considered one of Washington’s most iconic hotels.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Eleanor Roosevelt Oval Suite on a recent trip to DC. The staff at the front desk was lovely! The suite was very large, well appointed, and had great views. I truly hope to stay here again soon!

It’s been about 15 years since I stayed a single night at the Willard, and I’d love to go back, though sadly I can’t afford it now. Truth be told, I couldn’t afford it then either. Still, this is a hotel you visit, or stay at if you can manage it, purely for its legacy. The Willard InterContinental Hotel dates back to the mid-1800s, with its current Beaux-Arts building completed in 1901 and restored to its turn-of-the-century glory when it reopened in 1986. For generations it has been ground zero for Washington’s political class, including President Ulysses S. Grant, whose habit of holding court in the lobby helped coin the term “lobbyist.” In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his advisers finalized the “I Have a Dream” speech here just before the March on Washington. Today, the Willard sits two blocks from the White House, dripping with nearly two centuries of American history. It’s perfectly located near the National Mall, and the staff are exceptional—polished, professional, and exactly what you’d expect in a place like this. And then there’s the price. Like much of modern Washington, it talks a lot about inclusivity while practicing exclusion. But let’s not kid ourselves. Like most luxury hotels today, it’s wildly overpriced. Most hotels break even somewhere around $35–$60 a night. Even if the Willard’s operating costs are higher, say $75–$90, charging north of $400 a night isn’t about survival. It’s about gatekeeping. To be fair, anyone can walk through the lobby, take in the history, snap a few photos, and move along. The doors are technically open. Staying the night, however, is a very different class of admission. After all, this is a city run by people who never stop preaching about equality. Washington is overflowing with leftists and Democrats who lecture nonstop about “equity,” “access,” and making sure the poor get what the wealthy have. Funny how that generosity stops at the front desk. Apparently, everyone deserves everything… except a room in the places where history was actually made.

Phenomenal location and service. Despite construction the staff is remarkably accommodating and the GM was the epitome of service. Other hotels in the DC region should take note.
