We loved it!! First time visiting, great service (thank you Alira, I’m sure I spelled that wrong)! She was so nice, helpful with the area and food! Only place around opened at 11am, cold beer and food was great!
We were looking for a late snack during our stay in the power and light district. We were lucky to come across this place that was open, and not terribly busy. The good was surprisingly good for being in a touristy area. We had the pizza and some wings, very economical as well.
We went here to watch the St. Louis City SC play Sporting KC. We were visiting from St. Louis and online it was supposed to be a good soccer bar. We were very disappointed! I understand they dont have a good team, but the game was only on 2 of the smallest tvs out of 50 something tvs. No one was rooting for their team, no one acknowledged us wearing another teams gear! I wanted a little confrontation! I was hoping for some passionate fans. We got none of that! If you're there, dont go there for a good time. it's just a plain old sports bar. They seem to enjoy the NBA more.
We split the fish and chips, plus fried wontons. Both were actually good, although probably frozen and cooked to order, like most bar food. The hushpuppies were very good and surprisingly tasted homemade. But- we ordered an ice water to go. I sipped on the water throughout the day. Later on in the afternoon, the ice melted to reveal a large chunk of "funk" floating at the bottom of the plastic cup, along with smaller particles of funk. Very very gross. Not sure about the cleanliness of this place. Thus only 3 stars.
Not too bad of a place if you don't mind paying $15 for 32 oz of beer with a $2 alcohol tax. $20 for a beer with the competition around is pretty risky. I will be spending my money elsewhere. The bartender was nice, but didn't seem very knowledgeable on costs of beers, which gets exhausting asking how much each beer is especially when the prices were so drastically different. Feel a little ripped off for the almost refreshing one beer I consumed here. Plenty of aTv's though... 🤷🤦
Came here for the Super Bowl - we weren't expecting the best of service, but we also weren't expecting to barely get served at all. Emily, our server, ignored our table. We were sitting in a booth section right next to a group of guys. The guys were all able to order their drinks, their food, and be served, and close their tab and walk out before Emily even bothered taking our orders. All she had to do was walk two steps to check up on us. She didn't offer refill on waters, didn't hand us silverware when our food arrived, I had to go up and grab them because she was too busy chatting with another server and a friend sitting down at the bar. The one thing she did great was tell us about Jell-O shots, but then ran away before we could even tell her we wanted any. We had to flag her down but the Jell-O shots were great! The last thing - SHE DECIDED TO TIP HERSELF. We paid on three separate checks, and for two of us, she tapped the 20% tip herself. We didn't notice until AFTER the card had been processed and seeing the details. For the last friend, she didn't tip herself on his screen but he tipped her 18% anyways. We would have tipped extra since it was a busy occasion, but after seeing her pull that, we should have tipped NOTHING. That is absolutely shady, as this was a forced tip scam. Emily's transactions need to be reviewed, and her practice needs to stop.
When we visited, this place was super busy and understaffed. We waited a while to get our order taken and to get our food. By the time we did get our food, it was cold. Our Waitress was nice but overworked, so I didn't want to complain about our food being cold. I'll give this place another try on a slower day.
Wanted a quick bite before the R&B concert. As soon as we walked in, we grab the first booth diagonal from the door. The ambience was popping and the service was quick considering the room was packed. Our order consisted of chips and queso quesadilla and Wilson wings amazing!!! Can't wait to go back to food was hot and fresh
They added a mandatory 18% tip for the World Cup since “international tipping culture is unpredictable and we have to take care of our employees” How about paying your employees better and not forcing tips onto your customers? Tips are optional! Ironically enough, they rescinded this policy when they saw they weren’t getting any international visitors anyway. Either way, any restaurant that implements mandatory tipping, even temporarily, doesn’t deserve any of my money and you shouldn’t give them any of yours either. Judging by the other reviews, service is often subpar here and not worthy of an 18% tip as it is, especially not one forced upon the customer
Came in Tuesday after the underoath concert at the midland. It was about 1030. Took about 15 min to be greeted after sitting down. The place was pretty packed and only saw a single server on. Ordered a cheese pizza with extra cheese. Failed to put extra cheese on it. Ordered tue 18inch but it measured only 11 inches when I asked how it didn't compared to the normal ny style pizza johnnies is known for the waiteess explained to me that it had the same amount fo dough but the cook didn't spread it out. I'm sorry I come to johnnies becsuse their service and quality is considtent normally on a ny style pizza. The pizza was horrible and I likely will not be coming back to johnnies which used to be on my top 5 kc stops for a ny style pizza. I have included the dates of a previous pizza i had at this location also on a busy night and you can see the difference in the pie. My hand was bigger than a slice and that's unheard of at johnnies. You can also see the pie doesn't even fit the pań.
