Had a reservation for weeks. Show up on time and am told they are out of cars and it’s going to be a six hour wait for a car. Was told they were “busier than expected” when my reservation was in and paid for. Very rude about the cancellation. Would NEVER go back. Update: 1.5 months after my horrible experienced I have called customer service 4 times to get in contact with someone to provide a refund. They keep telling me the branch manager has to do that. The same person who was unbelievably rude to me when I went to pick up my car. He is clearly avoiding the refund. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.
I’ve been a regular customer at this location, and my experiences have always been good. However, recently, the service has shifted from good to exceptional, thanks to the outstanding efforts of Zach, Sidnei, and Rhi. They always go above and beyond, always personal, and always easy to talk to. Their exceptional service and excellent communication skills have made my recent visits truly standout. I highly recommend this branch for anyone seeking consistently excellent service, thanks to these amazing team members.
I’m not one to write reviews, but this place deserves it! Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, great selection of cars, and convenient location. This is a small, downtown location, but the choice of higher end vehicles beats the location at O’Hare! Best National location I’ve visited.
I have been renting from National for over 6 years and they have always been amazing. The customer service at the 203 N. LaSalle (Chicago) location is top notch! I have rental places closer to my home but only use 203 because of how great they are. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the folks who work there. From the folks upstairs who check me in to the folks downstairs who get me the car to the folks who greet me with a smile when i bring the car back.. They know me and remember me and are just good people!
I've been using National for 6+ years now and I've got no regrets. They offer well maintained cars and an amazing customer service. The National Car rental shares office with Alamo and is located on Clark and Lake. You can return the rental car via the La Salle street entrance.
Super friendly staff and easy to get in & out quickly. Also super convenient location. Will continue to keep renting from here. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that every car I've picked up here has been clean on the outside and dirty on the inside (dirt on the floor and dusty dashboard, leftover napkins/water bottles/trash in the drink compartments or behind the driver seat). I know the turnover for cars has to be quick, but I think a deeper clean in the interior is merited.
It's extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone here. After you book, you get a phone number that matches the one on google, and the email directs you to call if you want to be sure you get the actual vehicle you rented. But when you call you have to fight thru a very inefficient robot system where you can only verbally respond yes or no to a series of slow and useless questions. I give low ratings to businesses that sacrifice customer service by routing people to robot answering services instead of just picking up the phone. It would have been easy for them to give me the direct number to the office, upon booking the vehicle, instead of wasting my time and trying to dissuade me from calling to check whether they actually had a vehicle on the lot with the right amount of space/seating.
Once we found the office, check in was fast & choosing a car was as well. No restroom on car (lower) level. A typically great National experience. We miss you when we must go with another rental car company! MDW was twice the price of downtown option. Travel was worth the effort!
National has been my rental car company for over 5 years and has never disappointed me. I frequently use the downtown Chicago location at State St. for pickup and drop off . The staff is very friendly and the all process is very fast. The cars I've been renting are always in immaculate condition, pickup and drop off is very easy and has the advantage of having the subway ("El") station right next to it.
I needed a car rental fast when my car went into the shop and I reserved on line and went over within the hour to get a car from National. It was ready for me and I was in and out of there. The car was great and they were very accommodating when I needed to extend the reservation by another few days. Really great service at a great price!
