SO cute. The staff was super engaged and kind. The center is sweet and hands-on. It is "3 floors" but the top floor is just a minute or two to walk through and my kiddos had no interest. We have a 5.5 year old, 3 year old, and 1.5 year old. 4 stars because it was smaller than anticipated and really only took our family about 1.5 hours. The facility and staff itself was 5 stars. Parking was *seamless* and so close.
Great value for a quick, unique stop with the kids - highly recommend for an hr or two. The simulations were very cool (snowmobile, 4 wheeler, kayak, fishing, etc...)
THIS place has been on my bucket list and it did NOT disappoint! My ONLY disappointment is that I never got up here sooner! You WILL have fun at any age, but this is a GREAT spot to go for littles as well and is extremely family budget friendly! The DNR Outdoor Adventure Center sits right beside the Detroit River. There is a paid parking lot that sits right in front of it, I promise you’ll see it, just keep going!! There are three floors to explore and is handicap accessible. I will warn that on a busy day, I feel it would be a VERY tight fit, especially with strollers galore! There’s a cafeteria available for picnic lunching with bathrooms located all over including a set in the cafeteria. Even on a busy Spring Break day, we explored every exhibit and had the BEST time! Before heading out to lunch, we walked the towpath up and around to see the riverfront.

A really fun educational place to visit. More geared for children but fun for adults as well!
Visited the OAC with family in town. For $5 to park and $5 adult entry fee, it was a no brainer way to spend the day. This place is huge and has so many wonderful activities for little ones and families. It’s a go-at-your-own-pace exploration venue that was so educational even the adults learned some new things. There’s an indoor waterfall, a rope bridge, simulations of snow mobiles and kayaks, and so much more. Kids got to learn about Michigan and the importance of conservation. Cannot recommend this enough to everyone!

This place is amazing! Very impressive. We had 9 grandchildren with us ages 2-8 and all had the most fun. Something fun for all. This is a must go. Don’t miss the picture near the entrance that shows the original building before the transformation… way to go turning blight into fun for everyone!
My toddlers absolutely loved this place. Tons of hands on stuff to do and see. Great for a cold winter day when your kids want to play outside but don't want to freeze. There is a big parking lot so no need to fight to find parking and the tickets were very reasonably priced. There is also a small cafeteria where you can eat a packed lunch (they don't sell any food so remember to bring your own). The bathrooms were clean and they even have a private room to breastfeed and a "quite room" for those who need a break for sensory reasons. We will definitely be back again and again.
Seven years ago today was my very first visit to DNR Outdoor Adventure with my children, and it was truly a wonderful experience. We still have plenty of pictures to look back on, and the memories are priceless. It’s not just fun—it’s also a great learning experience for families and kids. I definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for adventure, education, and quality time together in nature!
