After I read all the bad reviews, I was not anxious to deal with this agency. However, my experience with them today has been wonderful! Patricia was very kind and very helpful!
Do NOT get this loan. I wish I would have known before making this TERRIBLE MISTAKE!! They make it very easy to get a loan. Unfortunately, they take legal action before communicating with you regarding your “late payments.” Actually, they never tried to contact me until it was too late. Never received an email, text, phone call, or a letter in the mail. They are quick to take legal action instead of taking action to communicate with you regarding a late payment or missed payments. They do not work with you. I was a first generation student and my family did not know much about loans. Please read reviews and research before making the same mistake I did. Hope this helps someone.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they offered no leniency or understanding. Despite the economic hardship I faced, including the threat of job loss, they demanded full payment without any compassion. I received no assistance whatsoever. Additionally, I experienced a frustrating incident where my card was mistakenly charged twice. After enduring a lengthy hold time of nearly an hour, I was informed that the issue could not be resolved, even though it wasn't my fault. Furthermore, their customer service is lacking in several key areas: they fail to send out any due date reminders, and I never receive confirmation emails or texts after making a payment. Overall, this agency is TRASH and I do not recommend. Do NOT do business with these people. Please read the reviews!!! You have been warned...
BE VERY CAREFUL USING THIS LENDER FOR YOUR EDUCATION! I have had to work with my State Senator's office because THECB withdrew my outstanding balance 2 months post the transaction date they gave me... and the amount they took was more than was due. They also refused to tell me my payment amount per my income driven plan when I was offered a career opportunity at a highly recognized academic institution. The office said that they can't tell me my new payment plan until I provide them my new paystub (huh????) and refused my offer letter. They also told me I had to fax them my social security number in order to start on auto-debit payment (SHADY!!!)
As a first-generation college student, trusting the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and HHLOANS was the single worst decision of my life. They are predatory beyond belief and thrive on misleading vulnerable students. They market themselves like a government institution, but they’re private, and their practices are an absolute scam. The interest rates are nothing short of criminal, their payment system is a joke, and their communication is practically nonexistent. When you finally get through to someone, they’re rude, dismissive, and give you the runaround. They’ve incorrectly drafted from my account TWICE, and getting answers or accountability from them is impossible. It’s disgusting. This organization preys on young people trying to better themselves and instead traps them in a lifetime of debt. I beg anyone even thinking about using THECB or HHLOANS to stay far away. They don’t deserve your trust, your money, or your future. I’ve made a mistake I’ll be paying for the rest of my life because of their deceitful, greedy practices. They should be investigated and shut down for the damage they’ve caused to so many people.
Absolutely HORRIBLE. I've been waiting for them to send over transcripts from an old school that's closed for a MONTH now. I even went through the trouble of sending them an email to get them to expedite it and still CRICKETS... Just a heads up, they NEVER answer the phone so don't bother calling. They had time to change the voicemail message to tell you to email them with your concerns but miraculously are so BUSY that they can't pick up the phone, shoot someone an email acknowledging their request or DO THEIR JOBS.
Going on 3 months waiting on transcripts from a closed college. Ugh! They are pretty straight forward dont bother leaving a voicemail we will not listen to it , we refuse to hire enough staff so we're just going to ignore you. Its despicable at how little they care. Sent multiple emails and they dont even bother to acknowledge them. Im going to get a lawyer, this is negligence, Ive suffered damages and both my education and job advancement are on hold until they can get their act together and release the only piece needed to make everything else happen.
If I could give this a zero star I would. DO NOT get student loans through these people. It is absolutely misleading and they make it so difficult to make even the minimum payments if you’re in a financial crisis. It’s a scam. They get you by approving young college students who don’t fully understand the conditions of the loans and you end up with this massive debt that is not realistic to pay back. This place needs to fold and forgive everyone who owes.
Beware biggest mistake of my life. They harass you; will not work with you and bring your credit down. I only borrowed 10 thousand dollars to finish my education. Now due to interest and late fees it's 15 thousand. They will not let me apply for the repayment plan for Educators. I am a Educator working in Texas at a charter school and do not qualify for the program. Again Beware Beware find another way to go to school. The company seems to run from another country based on the automated prompt services.
