Lots of good things but no discount for seniors or military.

When I called, they said they would help me with a meal. But then they tried to force me to stay there even though I live out of my car. They said they're not going to give me a meal unless I stay there but I don't want to be around a bunch of drug addicts. Instead, he handed me a pamphlet even though I said the outsides since 2 o'clock until 3:30. They will deny you if you don't wanna stay inside. The place just go somewhere else. Like a church, they will have more Help for you, they also tried to charge the homeless to stay there like a motel instead of just helping them. Pretty signing and disgusting if you ask me.

This location of The Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center is great in that it is a convenient spot to drop donations in Southtown, SATX! Please note that the donation center is in the back of the building - the platform is where you need to drop your items with the staff!

I didn't see the name of the man at register. I believe I only bought 5 items. 2 of the items didn't have prices.. So I approached gentleman and asked if he could help me with 2 price checks. In a very stern voice he said yes but let's ring up the items that do have prices. I said okay. He proceeded to continue cleaning the counter top. Mind you he had been cleaning the counter top way before I approached him. I figured he's cleaning and for covid reasons. I stood there another 5 minutes while he decided to continue cleaning on the other side of register. When he stopped he turned to the register and started cleaning that as well. He stopped looked at me and says how's your day. I answered honestly well it was going great till I came across you. He realized that he had done wrong. He wanted to make conversation but I didn't show interest. When transaction was completed I said I hope the rest of your day is better. Stay safe. Be blessed. When I walked away I said a prayer. Cause I figured something was on his mind or someone upset him.

I've been coming here for years and am sad to say the prices have gone up tremendously. It's a real shame considering these items were donated to the store in an act of charity. Thrift stores these days are selling furniture and clothes as though the original thrift shoppers are people who can afford to buy regularly priced items. Selection wise, I think this store used to have better options. It seems like they're sourcing brand new items that are unappealing to me, but I'm sure others appreciate that. The layout did change for the worse. Service is always good.

Very disappointed I was refused to participate in the auction due to my shoe which are in fact closed toes the signs say specifically NO SANDALS, I do not have sandals and well the Salvation Army missed out on my money 🤷🏻‍♀️the auctioneer Stephen didn’t let me participate 😭it’s fine next time I’ll just wear regular shoes but definitely a inconvenience cause now the left over furniture will be thrown away to the dump and they could of well allowed me to buy two furniture items smh

These clothes are donated to help the community and we aren’t even allowed to try them on? This is a disservice to low income people, it’s discriminatory and promoting scarcity of clothes in a messy cluttered store, this wouldn’t happen on any other side of town, open the fitting rooms and lower the Christian music that’s blowing out of broken speakers it’s too loud.

Whenever I am in the downtown area I always stop and at least take a peak. Except on Sundays because they are closed. There is always a good selection of clothes, furniture, and household items.

Update: Their prices have gone up, and their selection has gone down. They also closed their fitting rooms. They sell shirts with holes and stains and weird stuff on them for $2-$5. That is still to much. I MY opinion, all t-shirts should be $1. Blouses/long sleeve $3. Pants and dresses $6-7. Shoes $8. They have overstocked shelves, plenty of clothes to put out, and plenty of clothes they throw away because they arent being sold. I would personally spend more money if the prices were lower as opposed to only buying 2 things for $10, I would buy more items (around 5 maybe) and be worth it for $15 They had better prices than other thrift stores around (regarding clothing), I would recommend going on Wednesdays as all their clothing and select items are half off then. Their dressing rooms were quite clean and their workers were very kind. I picked up a few dresses and pants. They have a HUGE selection of dresses and pants.
