This was our first time shopping here (we are visiting from Seattle). Very nice clean well stocked store. We ordered the Peppered Covered Turkey for Christmas and it was WONDERFUL!!
At the Castro Whole Foods, I’ve noticed one cashier being very polite to some customers but not to others. Twice, when I said thank you at self-checkout, he didn’t respond, while I’ve seen him be polite to others. Consistency would make the experience better.
Agree w others that they should expand their selection. There were no berries unless pre packaged which was odd.
You know it's gone downhill when I had to go to the ratchet Safeway next door. No reasonable hot food in the morning, and the self checkout wouldn't even work to let me pay for the bananas. No idea if I paid for them or not, just left them there and gave up.
I like this store. I go there a lot. But it's a nightmare to order a cake for pickup. I went to the store on Monday to place an order for a cake pickup on Saturday and was told that they only accept online orders. I tried online and it was not user friendly at all. So, Tuesday afternoon went back to the store and said, I am having issues ordering a cake online for pickup on Saturday. The customer service woman at the desk told me that all cake orders should be made before 48 hours, I said, well today is Tuesday and I need it on Saturday so that's like 72 hours. Then she was also having issues with the online ordering herself. Next day, I called the store, the bakery manager told me that they are not accepting any cake orders. I am confused if they are not accepting any cake orders, why tell me in the first place to go online. And, the customer service tells me it has be before 48 hours. When you go online, it's not very clear at all. Lots of mixed messages here and people are not sure what to say. I just never realized ordering a cake 4 days in advance could be such a difficult task. Really really disappointed by the bakery department at this store. I might not go there for other needs either.
I dropped in to buy 3 items and sandwich meat on my way to my hotel. Unfortunately I was stopped at the door by security because I had a rolling bag with me. When I asked if I could leave it with customer service. The tall man replied, "You can leave it outside."
I was always doubtful of the location where it was because there were so many strange people that would cause a scene at the store. As much as the team would make great food, I was concerned about the hygiene because some people would touch the food with unclean hands.
Had to write a review just to mention... The Whole Foods "homemade" Caramel Cookies - wow! And my discovery of City Peanut Shop of Idaho and their Frank's Virginia Redskin Peanuts... great find. Wishing I could find these at my local Whole Foods!
