Was parking my car for 10 min on hazard lights when came back car was towed in 10 min!!!! I wish the city would controlling the crime as they do towing. You can’t walk on day of the light in downtown not to get robed. The location say 400E lower Wacker Dr., but it’s 500E and very hard to find by Lyft. Scamming people every day thanks to Lori L. the worst mayor of Chicago who care about illegal more then citizens. Such a shame!
Completely unprofessional and a total rip off. No one knows if they have your car until it arrives. I'm sure it won't take much effort for the tow drivers to report ahead of time what vehicle they have. I had to wait outside with no car for an hour until my car finally showed up at their impound, then get a can ride over to an address that doesn't show up on a map. When I arrived employees were sleep at the window. So happy I'm paying fees and taxes for city employees to sleep on the job.
Wish I could give zero stars. Towed my car with handicap sticker in an area that didn’t say no parking. Had 2 car seats and my sons medical equipment inside. Imagine leaving the hospital with two 1 year olds and no way to get them home. Then the women on the phone clearly hate their life and job. I asked them why they were being so rude and was told “ I talk like this all the time and if I intimidate you well then” they want others life to be hard because they’re miserable!
Although I can understand that it can be difficult to find this location, the staff were all very pleasant, friendly, and informative. I used the directions of another reviewer to find the place relatively quickly, and I only needed a few minutes before I was on my way out. From Columbus and Wacker, take the stairs all the way down to the Riverwalk. Walk along past a few of the rental shops until you see a gap in the fence. Pop through there and on the left you'll see the sign for the Auto Pound and a clearly labelled "Entrance" sign. The staff will walk you through the rest of the process. Good luck!
For starters I had no reason to have my car towed, I used a meter a picked 2 hours for parking. An hour and a half goes by and when I come back to my car it was gone. There was no sign or any type of information saying I couldn’t park there. It wasn’t next to a hydrant and I didn’t even exceed my parking limit. Secondly, when I finally found out where my car was and tried explaining the situation to a man over the phone, he literally said “I don’t care, what’s the license plate number”. I was thoroughly disgusted by their attitude and posture. And on top of all of that, their location is almost impossible to find if you’re not a Chicago resident. Only if you had an opportunity to pick who towed your car.
I wish I would have trusted the reviews when I read to map yourself to the coffee shop Drunken Bean and then turn right into the lot. We took an Uber there and it was VERY confusing on how to get there (your maps will take you to the ground level and ig you try to go underground, your maps go out on lower wacker so it’s a guessing game on how to get there) Also something to be aware of is that they won’t accept a payment method that does not have the car owners name on it!! We had to go find an atm which wasn’t a big deal as Mariano’s was open near by. The workers were very nice and helpful which is why I gave 5 stars, but the mission to get there + payment issue gets 1 star
8-18-19 Parked on Grand and Saint Clair. They had no reason to tow my car. Soon as u tow mine there’s another car in the same exact spot. I was clearly behind the tow sign. 11-22-19 towed me three times and I’ve beaten every ticket. All you’ve done was inconvenience me, running around town to 40 W Superior to get that money back (pay for parking) then to 95 to beat a ticket.
lady on the phone was nice and patient with my questions. she also gave some directions that helped us find the place. drove around for an hour!! gps can’t find the location which is under all the ramps. if you’re lost try: - GPS to 400 East South Water Street (Drunken Bean coffee shop) - then drive to the stop sign and take a right. - next stop sign, take a right. and you’re there. look out for the big white sign that says “City of Chicago Central Auto Pound” under the bridge
Auto pound conveniently can’t schedule an administrative hearing because “the system is down”. Told me to leave and call the number on the back of the pink slip. But person on the phone says “I’m not following policy” and have to schedule at the pound.
After Paid for parking, 7 mins - they just add the paper to tow on the street and tow my car being dirty but God dont like ugly 🙏🅿️. It costed me $175 in total and $100 standing ticket. Dec 2, 2022. I was informed that they do this because of the 2 inches of snow but it is 50° on that day with no sign being displayed the time i arrived.. They don’t accept Apple Pay, No virtual pay at all. ONLY credit card or cash. Also cant use your virtual state 🪪 Driver license. No virtual insurance card! scammers but i keep a level head. They pretty much give you a very hard time. You need hard copy of everything. Being that the new generation is here everything is virtual, they need to upgrade policies. PLEASE 🙏 Use a dry cloth and rub in circles. NO WATER NO WATER💧 I heard that the numbers they write on your window will remove the paint from your car being that it is made of oil Thank god someone told me before i did it.
