Great coffee shop that doubles as a bodega of sorts selling artisan goods in a former auto body shop. Would reccomend.

On my way home from Lowes, wanted to get a pick-me-up. A bit of a wait on a Sunday morning as usual. Lots of joggers getting their coffee or pitstops here I saw several times. I got the regular croissant and chocolate. Drinks, I got the pistachio rose latte and hot chocolate. For the pistachio, didn't taste much pistachio but there was a hint of rose there with creamy goodness. Next time I'll get something else. For the hot chocolate, I asked about the ingredients ( chocolate syrup, condensed milk, steamed milk, and something else), which I found to be mildly chocolatey with equal hints of the syrup and condense milk. I had a drink of it and it wasn't piping hot as I wanted it to be but I'll try again next time.

I never knew I loved espresso tonics until Herman's opened... And the Pennsport Mule is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up! I love that it's turned into a store with a mix of gourmet treats and local items (like Pennsport-made fishing lures and locally grown flower bouquets), not to mention all the amazing vendor pop-ups and food truck events! They really created a neighborhood destination and I'm glad I've gotten to see it grow so big from their original opening!

This place is outstanding. I love it so much I named my dog Herman. He loves their treats but often will nibble on some fingers when he grabs them from the baristas (sorry). Get your morning joe from Herman's and enjoy it in those adorable little red lawn chairs, it's the right thing to do. PS: miss the indoor seating and the comedy nights but the market is next level so no complaints.

My favorite place in the neighborhood, maybe even the entire city for a coffee, a cocktail, or just a place to hang out. Matt the owner is the man. Herman’s rules.

Such a great spot. My boy Steve lives close by and I have gone twice. It smells amazing, they have delicious treats, coffees, and packaged cool goods. Super nice people, making seriously great coffee!

Herman’s ticks all the boxes. Super chill vibes, friendly staff always playing the jams, and some of the best coffee in Philly. I love the little shoppy shop inside too. It’s perfect whether you need a gift or want to put together a great meal for yourself. They also have an extensive non-alcoholic section, which you rarely see. It’s all just so thoughtful. You really can’t go wrong here. A truly world-class place in South Philly.

I really want to love this place. I do. I believe in supporting small businesses, good coffee, good vibes, all of it. But at this point, ordering a latte here feels less like a morning pick-me-up and more like a character-building exercise. I waited over 15 minutes for a latte that arrived… emotionally warm at best. Not hot. Not even “I might burn my tongue.” Just… gently discouraging. And listen, the latte art? Beautiful. Truly. A tiny masterpiece. In a to-go cup. With a lid. That I immediately put on. So now it’s just abstract foam I never saw… silly. Respectfully, maybe we pause the traveling art exhibit and invest in a second espresso machine? Or a tiny bit of urgency? Or both? I’m rooting for you. I want to be a regular. But if I have to start blocking off calendar time for a single latte, we’re gonna have to have a serious talk.

Coffee was amazing but at the end of the day it’s about how the service is and they were talking to me like I was stupid and made it seem like everyone has to know the rules before they come into the restaurant, which makes no sense to me. [asked for cream and sugar and they just looked annoyed and pointed to it, asked about food options and he said we have sweet or savory and named 2 things…] Overall a disappointing experience from the staff.

Went to try out the after hours drink menu around 630pm. The girl working tonight said she wouldn’t serve me because I had someone underage with me. It was my 5 year old son who was outside with my my pregnant wife while she was drinking coffee. It was completely empty and I was willing to have the drink inside but whatever. I’ve always loved Herman’s coffee and the owner is a super nice guy. It’s really one of my favorite spots, but the staff usually comes off as pretentious and green when it comes to customer service.
