I've been frequenting the Hostel Cafe since last summer. Every time is outstanding. This increasingly less hidden neighborhood gem has something for everyone: comfortable spaces, international community, kind people, and delicious food. And the prices are far better than anywhere else in the area.

What an amazing place! We held a large group meeting there. The space is bright and spacious. The staff was super helpful, including kindly turned down the music, so we could hold our meeting. The food was wonderful. We will recommend it to others and return often!

This is a wonderful cafe in a marvelous hotel! I have been there several times for just an afternoon of music and good beer and company, and this time stayed at the hostel, had amazing mushroom soup late in the day and had breakfast as well. We took a breakfast sandwich on the road and it was perfect.

I can’t tell you in words how wonderful of a find this cafe is in Portland. The staff is so kind and amazing. The food is out of this world. They have a wide variety of dishes for vegans, and meat eaters alike. The deserts and pastries are always fresh, and I’m pretty sure it’s some of the best coffee in Portland.

The cafe was amazing! We were staying at the Hostel so we had the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Cafe and all were fantastic. The food was delicious. The service was so wonderful and personal. Just lovely 😍. And the atmosphere was so laid back and comfortable. I live in Florida but when I come back to Portland, I will definitely come back here!

I have been to the Hostel Cafe many times over the last several months and have always come enjoy my time in the open space of the Commons area, but I can't wait to sit out in the courtyard a bit more when the weather brightens up (immunosuppressed)! The specials are always great, and it does provide a veritable hearth in the NW side of Portland for folks to enjoy with nightly events - I tend to be there on Mondays, and don't always get around to seeing the Open Mic night, but that is just one thing they share through the week. I recommend the Hostel Cafe which provides a lovely place to enjoy a fair-priced meal whether you stay at the Hostel or not. I'm partial to a Grilled Cheese or Mac, and a Lager, but I can also recommend the burgers, scones, and of course the coffee - miss that Peppermint, though!

This might be my new favorite biscuits and gravy spot in Portland! The venue is small, but cozy, the staff are friendly-though busy- and the food is phenomenal. However, the prices are a little high. Breakfast for two was about $50.00 which seemed steep for a hostel or cafe. Still, probably will come back in the future.

I work for a small nonprofit in Portland, and we have hosted several events and celebrations at the Northwest Portland Hostel and The Hostel Café. All the staff are always so kind, helpful, and flexible. They make it easy to plan and easy to be there. The food we have catered from the Cafe for events is always well-loved by our guests. We also have small staff meetings in the Cafe when we want a change of scenery and a good cup of chai! It is such a warm and welcoming space for our team. We ❤️ the NW Portland Hostel and The Hostel Cafe!

Ordered breakfast to go and an Irish cream latte. While talking to the lady at the counter trying to decide what I wanted to get, I let her know I don't like overly sweet drinks. She was paying attention and when I ordered my drink she told me she would ask for it to be lighter on the sweetness. I am picky on my coffee and it was one of the most delicious lattes. Very well made. The breakfast also was quite nice. I had the American Classic.

Really cute spot, unfortunately the food is awful. Literally the worst chicken sausage I’ve ever had! And the French toast was terrible, hard as rock. Over all the food was just not good and the portions were very small. With so many great options in this neighborhood, you’re better off going elsewhere.
