This was the best place for our Sunday brunch. My go to order was the American classic or building my own plate with a side of fruit. and there’s so much seating you can choose to be inside or outside. One of my favorite things about this Hostel cafe is that it’s not completely remote working space, you can hear and have conversations with another person and there’s a lot of natural lighting everywhere. One of the best perks of staying at the Hostel was that you can have a discount in the café downstairs so it was the best of both worlds and very convenient.

Hidden gem for summers in Portland. Large window by the front where you can feel the breeze as you get a meal, drink, or catch up on work. Friendly staff - beer and wine selection paired with tasty food. Free wifi, clean bathrooms, and amazing location!

Full five stars if not for a teensy bit of constructive feedback me thinks 🤔 heheh… 🍺 tiny things like how to pour draft beer most effectively. It’s a small difference beteeen a ten second pour and 3 minute pour. I had to learn to tilt the glass once myself. And newbie remarks aside willingness to do true to you things that open minds while inviting all in, is a CLEAR international welcome feeling. This is seen in the several of the best Hostels I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. This American version personally gives the feeling of the model European. And I just changed it to full five stars while writing. The Cafe itself, attached to the Hostel has a beautiful interaction connecting creation; frequency timeless powerful, so good it’s BAD. Michael Jackson Bad♥️ ⚔️ Enjoying food music hospitality. I have much more I’d like to say than this. Sum up: ♠️ Home made baked goods. Home made scratch kitchen. First treat brought to me, after a bite, I said ooh…where did you get this? I felt at home. Rice Krispie just the way I love it! And then a burger 🍔 I almost wet my pants!! lol I seriously feel that’s one of the top delicious burgers I have in my lifetime had. Writing actuellement …with THE perfect cup o latte. Seriously. Context is important. The creamy texture and flavor profile is comforting. The vibe relaxed and calm. Choice in quality content is evident as well as the service with kindness. O warm morning cup…I dreamed of you as a child. Bless you for all you do utilizing magic food warmth delight. From musician to the MC or passerby’s coming through … they host bzillions o stars. Simplement, thank you. 🫠 ☕️ 💯 ⭐️

Wow. In a city full of amazing but often heavy food this hostel cafe is a perfect reprieve. Get some veggies kombucha a local brew and listen to a dnd campaign in one room or an Appalachian jam band in the other. Healthy affordable really great space!

I had a wonderful experience hosting a World Otter Day Trivia event here! The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout the planning and event itself. The food and drinks were excellent, and the venue provided a great atmosphere for our community fundraiser. Thanks to their support, the event was both enjoyable and successful for the nonprofit I work for. I highly recommend this space for gatherings, fundraisers, and special events.

Oh my goodness, that burger appeared so unassuming, yet it was incredibly delicious! And the beer was excellent as well. We are visiting Portland for the week. The staff is wonderful, the establishment is very clean, and the atmosphere feels very much like home. It's easy to relax and enjoy the outdoor weather here.

Our small nonprofit hosts our annual fundraising event at The Hostel Cafe & NW Portland Hostel. Their venue is perfect for casual events. The staff if extremely helpful, kind, accommodating, and generous. It's apparent how much the Hostel Cafe does to support and give back to their community. I always feel welcomed and it has become our go-to spot for work meetings and events. Plus, the food is delicious!

Quiet spot for weekday breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was yummy and cost $10. The seasonal hot apple cider was $4.50 and delicious. The barista asked if I liked my hot chocolate on the sweet side or the none sweet side. I’ve never been asked that question but I really appreciated it! It’s clear from the taste that the drinks here are made with intentionality. A side of roasted potatoes was $4. The place is kind of small but very clean and the staff are very helpful and kind. It’s not really a sit and stay forever kind of place although there were some people working there and using the space like a coffee shop. Most people came and went only staying 15 min or so. Great option if you’re in the area!

Never thought I'd be a regular at a hostel in my own city, but I can't help it here! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the place was filled warmth and a variety of people enjoying one another's company. It felt like a place locals return to often, and overnight visitors can feel at home in. The food in the cafe was hearty and had something for every diet. Lots of good local events happen here, or can be found on the event board. As a born and raised Portlander, this place is loaded with Portland charm. Has vintage and history throughout but absolutely updated and well-maintained for modern times.
