This was a spontaneous weekend trip with my family friends. This hotel is the perfect option for us, the location is just so perfect. If you get lucky you can get the view of the White House without leaving your hotel room. The hotel is walking distance to the Washington Monument. Inside the hotel, as soon as you walk in you get a bit thrown back by the massive lobby, that is so elegant, and beautiful. The hotel staff are incredible, when we got there they quickly checked us in and gave us our rooms. We had the most simplest room on the 8th floor, facing the courtyard. It was a very nice view. The room was simple, but everything was clean, and the beds were neat and the bathroom tidy. Nothing smelled, nothing was out of place, the hotel room was in very good shape. The breakfast their is my most favorite part. There is a spot in the cafe, that has a window view, and I loved it. The cafe has everything that you would expect a cafe to have, it has eggs, sausages, french breakfasts, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, assortment of juices and pastries and more. Everything was very good but I got my lox bagel which was delicious (but honestly you cannot mess up a lox bagel but either way it was good). We had a very wonderful experience and if we ever come back to Washington DC we will definitely stay here again.
Beautiful hotel. Visit the Round Robin Bar. It is small, but charming. The Mint Julep is fantastic there.
Came for graduation on the Mall. Just an over night stay. They upgraded us to the Theodore Roosevelt Suite. Great service
Went to the bar, it was very posh. The drinks were fantastic and the building is pretty damn neat. A must see.
What a beautiful hotel. The staff and accommodation are amazing, rooms are clean well kept and nice. Definitely worth a stay.
Room: We stayed in a double queen room on the 7th floor facing the courtyard. The room size is impressive for DC with a commanding view towards the National mall. Overall furnishings felt very high-end but were definitely dated. The bathroom featured luxury Byredo amenities and marble countertop with custom wood Willard engraving but is showing its age; the water pressure is pretty poor. Service: Overall service (outside of this) was OK - associates were friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping and concierge were friendly - always saying hi with a smile. There were a couple spots missed in the room during cleanup - we got what looked like some leftover food on the floor from a prior guest. Location: is where the Willard really shines! It’s close to commercial offices for business travelers, near political offices for dignitaries, and walking distance to the National mall for tourists. Amenities: there’s a spa, exercise room and locker areas (with steam room and sauna) the second floor. The famous round table bar is just downstairs. There’s famous common areas including Peacock alley and a great hallway outlining the historical significance of the hotel. Update: we had an issue and it was resolved by Natalie - thank you.
This place is so beautiful. I'm a sucker for historic buildings in general and The Willard delivers. Staff was all super nice and helpful and the room was fabulous (and large, for a standard room). Be sure to go find the historical gallery, a little museum on the history of the hotel!
We stayed here for the holidays and our experience was magical! We upgraded to the Teddy Roosevelt Suite which was so incredibly appointed and had an impressive sweeping view of Pennsylvania Avenue. We enjoyed delicious cocktails and appetizers at the Round Robin bar and ordered a fantastic breakfast that we enjoyed in our suite. The service from valet to front desk to bar and room service was impeccable and we were treated so well we didn’t want to leave! The location is perfect for sightseeing and enjoying all downtown DC has to offer, esp during the holidays! Highly recommend the Willard!
I’d like to bring something to your attention—a situation that caught me completely off guard during my stay. I came here expecting the usual: basic check-in, polite greetings, and standard service. But what I got… was far from that. Instead, I was met with Josephine—a front desk professional who completely raised the bar. Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care turned a routine check-in into a genuinely welcoming experience. She didn’t just do her job—she elevated it. Every interaction with her was a reminder of what true hospitality feels like. She was patient, kind, proactive, and made sure I had everything I needed before I even had to ask. That kind of service is rare—and it deserves to be recognized. So yes, I came here with a complaint: your front desk team, especially Josephine, has now ruined other hotels for me. They’ve set a new standard—and I’m afraid not many will live up to it. Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to her and to your whole team. You’ve made this stay unforgettable.
Top notch all the way! Location is everything! Every employee we came across was extra helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was immaculate and as someone who appreciates style and design, my socks were blown away by all the details. Every piece of art, wall molding, rug, and wallpaper was thought out for an impactful reaction. Wow doesn't even begin to describe this place! Food at the cafe and round bar drinks were creative and tasty. The aged barrel whiskey was gone all nights we stayed there, but looking forward to its return next time we're in town. Have already recommended the hotel to my friend staying at the end of September. Literally right down the street from the White House and dignitary arrived while we were there. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
