Great coffee. The baked goods are produced on site. Spacious seating over 3 floors with roof top terrace and the (not so impressive) skyline of KC. Almost makes me consider moving to Kansas. Did I mention fantastic coffee?
good spot to get your coffee fix with nice baked goods ranging from baguettes to croissants to pastries parking is a bit tougher here but there is some paid street parking around lot of seating available
Amazing cafe and bakery here in Kansas City, we walked in and loves the vibe they had going. The line moved very efficiently. You can understand everyone at all the stations. Who needs fresh bread? Or should I say who wants it. They are doing it and doing it well. I can't talk it up . Just go look for yourself Only thing I should of said I want my latte in a cup. That one is on me. But next time I got it. You receive your beverage, pastry and number for your table when you pay. Then you can go up to the third floor for seating. No after we found a spot on the second floor. It's very modern and contemporary. I'm really digging the vibe. Now I noticed they have an elevator so if your knees or and physical restrictions that won't allow you to climb the steps. No worries the have an elevator. Then I had the pleasure to talking to the manager. Asked a few questions since it was our first time there. I didn't want to be rude and leave a mess. She was a pleasure to talk with and made us feel so welcomed there. Now we received my Seasonal French Toast. So this had a bead pudding vibe. I was down with it. The Cinnamon Bun was fire!!! Honestly I don't think you could go wrong. Parking everywhere and the meters are free on the weekends.
As Europeans visiting for the World Cup, we had a rough time finding some proper breakfast like we’re used to (a good coffee with fresh breads). We finally found that with Messenger Coffee!
Let me start by saying the croissant I had was the best, most scrumptious, flaky croissant I’ve ever had. It was fantastic. That being said, the service wasn’t great. I ordered a coffee, and the young lady who took the order was a little cold, but that seems par for the course, but it got really bad when my coffee was ready. The portly young man called out order for ‘Randolph’ which is not my name, so I inquired if he meant Rudolph. He snidely replied “That’s what I said “ I told him I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t taking someone else’s drink. If I don’t know anything else, I know my name, and when it’s mispronounced. He could’ve admitted the mistake, but he didn’t and the condescending way it all went down is why i wouldn’t frequent this place. The bakery offerings are phenomenal, but not worth being treated poorly. Customer service needs to make a come back.
Best coffee in KC, best selection of breakfast croissants, muffins, and other pastries, including some fantastic gluten free options. A must visit for anyone in Kansas City.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting a cafe called "Messenger Coffee." From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and welcoming smiles from the staff. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with plenty of natural light streaming in through the large windows. I was impressed by the extensive menu of specialty coffees and teas, as well as the delicious-looking pastries and sandwiches on display. I ended up ordering a mocha and a gluten free pastry, and I have to say, both were absolutely divine. The mocha was made with expert precision and had the perfect balance of espresso and steamed oat milk. The gluten free pastry was very good and not overly sweet. What really made the experience stand out, however, was the attentive and friendly service from the staff. They made sure to check in on me regularly to see if I needed anything, and they even offered suggestions on other menu items I might enjoy. They were very friendly and made me feel at home. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Messenger Coffee. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the service was unparalleled. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a cozy and inviting spot to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea. I definitely recommend eating out on the patio, on the third floor if the weather is nice. It's a great spot to have a meeting, spend time with friends and family, or even to just sit and read a book by yourself. They have a comfortable seating area and perfect lighting to accommodate the need. It's a cafe that would never disappoint and I'll be back soon.
Really cool place to grab a coffee with friends or family to hang out. 3 floors, including the rooftop area, provides ample space and options. Staff is friendly and informative. Coffee and pastries were okay. Many other local coffee shops to choose from that have better tasting coffee and options.
Let me start by saying the only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the lack of parking. It's typical for downtown. The atmosphere, food, drinks and staff were all fantastic. You walk in and see the baking breads. It's smells so good. I got a seasonal orange foam cold brew and it was so delicious. My husband's chai was amazing as well. We ordered a cinnamon roll, the classic breakfast and a spring hash. Everything tasted delicious. However, the almond croissant from the bakery was heavenly. I made my husband go buy another to take home. They are huge and full of yummy goodness. I may need to go get another tomorrow, if my pants still fit. Seriously.... Get one or four. We sat on the rooftop patio and it was so nice. Three levels of places to sit and enjoy your almond croissants.
Fantastic bakery and coffee shop. I had heard great things about Ibis for years, but this was my first time trying them out - not disappointed! As a fellow bread baker, I love their open kitchen concept where you can watch them baking while waiting on your coffee. Breads run from around $11 a loaf for country bread and up from there.
