Monk’s Cafe was recommended on a previous trip, and I finally made it this time around. A stop well worth it. I didn’t realize the accolades this bar has received. If you’re a fan of beer, add this place to your bucket list.

A Philly staple for so long for a reason. Awesome beer menu. Well crafted to have the best, most unique list. Nothing you pick will be bad. Food is a nice pairing. They are known for their muscles which are a nice big size and refreshing, not too heavy. Their vegetarian options are so well executed. The veggie mushroom cheesesteak is one of the best in town. Unexpectedly good.

By far, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Bustling place so expect a bit of a wait. Highly recommend dividing and conquering your meal. Also, duck salad is best as a duck salad. Sandwich was good, but it shines as a salad.

I have been told about Monk's for years, and I finally made the trip. Worth the wait! An incredible beer selection and amazing food -- we had a blast. Only caution i'll tell out of towners (like me): This is a Philly Institution, so be prepared to wait. Fortunately, there is a bar.

As a Belgian guy myself, I always let myself be surprised by how good quality the American beer is that these guys have in stock, they absolutely know their stuff, their food is great, the fries and sauce with the fries always hits the spot whilst enjoying one of their perfectly curated beer. Bee gave great advice when I was "done" with the beers on draft and her highly recommended beers where amazing choices. I can't say anything bad about this place, the food, the beer, the staff, everything is amazing, except for the location, ... it's too far from Belgium... Monks I LOVE you, keep up the good work, and hopefully see you soon

Monks is one of those places that does the term “a hole in the wall” justice. It’s tucked away, unassuming, unpretentious, and you have no idea to amazing food and drinks that await you inside. My husband and I had 3 different beers a piece. We got the frog legs, cheese platter, mussels and Pom frittes. Everything was great. I could tell the waitstaff genuinely liked working there. Everyone was happy, no one was running around stressed out. Prices are super reasonable too, just an all around gem of a restaurant.

Stopped in a Monk's cafe and got lucky to grab a table on a Saturday! The food was amazing! My steak was prepared perfectly (medium rare). Of course the beer selection was fantastic! The server was friendly and helpful! The bathroom is small but clean!

Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and a huge variety of quality beers (I suggest the Monk's Sour Ale)! The have a daily vegan dish, vegetarian/vegan items in the entire menu... but for the wee-accomplished omnivore, their mussels are out of site! Don't miss out, snd hopefully you'll find yourself in the quaint back room!

Cozy Belgium bar with no reservations. Came during lunch time to avoid wait times! Kept hearing rave reviews about their fries and WOW… they are incredible. Paired with some magical mayo sauce, no idea whats in it but I want it to be bottled up and in my fridge 24/7. The burger was juicy and seasoned well, my only issue was the brioche bun was a little stale and then got soggy from the juiciness of the burger. It could have used a little time on the grill. Definitely want to come back to try the mussels!
