If you’re a fan of craft beer and great food, Monk’s Cafe is a must! It’s likely there will be a wait. Don’t worry… it’s worth the wait. Just put your name on the list and wait for a table or bar seat, or go outside and take a walk. The area is reasonably walkable and safe. Food, beer, and service were all top-notch. They have an extensive beer list and every different beer glass you can imagine. The fries and bourbon mayonnaise were great, and the duck salad sandwich was cooked to perfection. Go hungry and wanting a good beer, leave satisfied that you’ve just visited one of the best beer bars in the world. You’ll thank me later 😉

I visit here every time I’m in Philly. Love the selection and really appreciate Jordan’s advice on the different selections. Food is equally as good. Seating is a little congested and it would be great to have an outdoor option as they did during the Covid days. I was a little surprised by the hostess when I was directed to a small table that was over crowded with a group from the next table. She told me I would need to ask them to move and left me to manage the seating arrangement. This was would left me with a negative impression but Jordan made up for it with his great attitude and professionalism.

One of my favorite spots in the city, and a true beer drinker's paradise. There's a beer for everyone here. The burgers and mussels are fabulous. And the staff are great. Not so good for large groups, though, as it's pretty tight.

Monks is another gem in Philadelphia. Everyone knows their selection of amazing beer, but not everyone knows they're incredible food. Mussels, handmade chicken tenders, duck liver mouse, duck salad and frog legs. Tom and his team are incredibly inviting, wonderful service and an atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and at home

Just a great experience! The vegetarian cheese steak was amazing and I loved my duck sandwich. Excellent selection of beer and a great server. What more could I want?

Delicious food! Must try the mussels - had the monk flavor and it’s fresh and yummy. We also had the beef burger and Italian sausage sandwich - both were cooked to perfection and a decent size. For dessert, the chocolate with custard filling was the best thing to finish it off. Service was excellent, atmosphere was lively and comfortable. Highly recommended.

4.5 stars ... This was an interesting place. Server was excellent. My first taste of an sour ale which was very good. I had the Cheesy burger. The bun was good but bigger than the burger which is why the 4.5 stars rating. The party was tasty but too much bun. The fries are great and love the mayo based doing sauce.

Great beer selection!!! What surprised me was that the food was also phenomenal - burgers perfectly cooked to our preferences (no ketchup) and the fries are just right. Down side: very popular and they do not offer reservation so either wait or plan to come slightly earlier or later. We opted for later and got seated within 15 mins Even though they are very crowded, we got served and taken care of regularly enough that we didn't feel neglected. Highly recommended

Monk’s Café is a must-visit in Philly, especially if you enjoy great beer. The selection is outstanding, with a strong focus on Belgian brews, and everything we tried was top quality. The atmosphere is cozy and classic, and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy a well-crafted drink- I’d definitely come back.

Beware- this place is always packed with a long wait for a table on a Friday night. Their mussels are absolutely to die for - had every single kind and I always come back for more!! Huge portions and comes with fries! Get the burger if you’re not into seafood. The best beer selection on the east coast- it’s a Philly thing!
