I lived at Pearl St. for 3 years while going to school, back around 2013. At the outset, co-op life may seem a little rough around the edges to some (particularly if you tour the grounds when there's not enough students around to keep it clean!), but it was absolutely the most safe, magical, and transformative environment I can imagine anyone having as a new student leaving home. Everyone is welcome at Pearl, and everyone (from every walk of life) is AT Pearl. If you are interested in a one-note echo chamber where everyone has the same ideas and values as you, DON'T come to Pearl. If you are seeking an environment where everyone, regardless of what they believe, comes together to live, grow, have fun, and genuinely care for one another as fellow humans.. Pearl Street is the absolute best place on earth.
Living at Pearl was the best decision I made when choosing college housing. It was a wonderful, vibrant place to live during college where I created friendships that have spanned decades. It was a formative time where I learned about living with people from all walks of life and working together to create a home for all. Pearl and all of my many memories made here will always have a large part of my heart. (Its also still a great deal for rent, food, bills and a pool)
Absolutely not. Do not come here. I'm so glad I left. Toxic culture and I couldn't sleep at all due to the constant noise and parties. Huh they HID my review for some reason
Pearl Street Living here was the most rewarding experience that I have ever had. This place is so much more that a home, it's a cooperative society, packed with friends and fun. If you desire more than a formal education from the university/college systems and are also looking for lessons in real life, you should apply to live here.

Definitely agree with the other reviews about the terrible living conditions here. That other reviewer describing the dorms as Soviet-esque was being nice! The noise level due to parties is unacceptable and adds salt to the wound. I doubt there's much studying that goes on here. Don't live here.
Great community where you live in not just a residence, but a home. The ultimate definition of the sharing economy, Pearl Street provides you everything you might want out of a student resident, without the annoying and expensive landlords and VC firms (which is basically the rest of West Campus). You get the opportunity and benefit of meeting people from all over the world and of various backgrounds. Included in the rent is all utility bills, internet, pool access, home gym, computer lab and printing, maintenance, tool shed, bike parking, cheap car parking upon request (one low fee per semester), video games and consoles, movie room, study rooms, social events, ALL OF YOUR FOOD (2 hot meals each weekday, 3 hot meals weekends, breakfast options, coffee, snacks, and whatever else you could want). Rooms are very large, furniture included (if you want), bathrooms are shared with only 1 or 2 other people. Good luck finding a more affordable deal anywhere near UT. The best part of all is the built-in support and community, an aspect that is absolutely priceless.
There’s a lot to say after living at Pearl for 3 years, but to sum it up, Pearl has helped me become comfortable with who I am. Pearlies have each other’s backs. Pearl is family. Having a community who accepts me means everything to me
After seeing all the negative reviews for this place I felt complled to say my own experince visiting this place and meeting the people. I've gone to a few things that they have done over the years and everytime I was greeted by friendly people and people that seemed to care for each other. This place is as far removed from a frat/soroity as possible, most of the people there were much more welcoming and quickly dealt with any issues that happened at events. I was harassed by random men multiple times at events and told the people running the events and they quickly removed the men with no questions asked. Would 100% reccomend living here if you get the opputunity as they have such a good culture and large family dynamic.
