Pearl Co op is super diverse and fun! Everyone there is very kind and welcoming :) It will give you a unique college experience that you will cherish for years!
The numerous parties and loud concerts here, even on weekday nights, make it terrible for its residents and neighbors. They last for hours, well after 12 AM. I would not recommend you live here or nearby.
Terrible living conditions, 65 degrees in the winter, 85 degrees in the summer. Loud parties mean you can't study. 2025 edit: Strange! They hid my review as well. Hmmmm
Pearl is one of the best places to live on West Campus. No predatory landlords, no spiking rent, a consistent dormitory experience with a thriving community. Cooperative living has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day, you have the power to change the space around you. Instead of waiting months on a landlord, you can work with the office directly and work cooperatively with other members of the house.
Lived here 2014-2016, and I'm real grateful for the experience. Built a worldwide community I still see on the regular and made friends for life. So glad I lived here 😁
I really wanted to like living here, but this co-op has been a nightmare from day one. The biggest issue is the HVAC system, or I should say, the complete lack of one worth calling a system. The "heating" barely pushes warm air, and in winter the apartment stays at a constant chilly 60-65 F no matter how high you crank the ancient thermostat. In summer it's even worse: the AC (if you can even call it that) is so underpowered that the indoor temperature climbs into the mid 80s during heatwaves. We basically live with fans running 24/7 and still wake up sweating. Even for what we're paying, this is unacceptable. Also, the parties are disruptive.
Everyone I've ever met who lived at pearl street was cool as hell. Highly recommend
Pearl street has been the most amazing experience of my life thus far. Everyone is accepted and treated like family. The food is great, having a family/community like no other is amazing. You will build experiences for a lifetime and you'll have the grace and acceptance to really become who you are and evolve. I moved here a few months after my father passed away and I can truly say, this helped me heal as a person and the friendships I made have been for a lifetime. I was able to study (to a 4.0) and flourish, all the while improving myself and meeting fantastic people with lasting friendships around the world (the price and location are phenomenal as well!).
Living at Pearl was a major part of my college experience. It helped me improve my understanding of how to live wonderfully with others from various backgrounds. I made lifelong friendships, and still enjoy going back to visit when possible!
Pretty good food, nice pool, great parties, even better family. Best place to live in West Campus.
