Best value for loose leaf tea! You can get 1 lb of quality tea leaves for the same price as a box of teabags filled with dusty scraps from the supermarket. I can actually taste the difference in the black and green teas I’ve gotten here vs boxed tea which usually just tastes bitter to me. Plus, buying in bulk is better for the environment. 🌱 They also have a table with bags of <1 lb herbs at a discount, I got 6 oz of sencha for $5. Thank you for making my kombucha brewing more economical 🙏🏽
What a nice surprise this place was. Staff was very kind and generous (gave a bit of extra catnip for our kitty). The prices and quantities are more than fair, I felt like I got a lot for my money. The quality of the spices were all top notch. I will definitely be a return customer.
If you drink lots of loose leaf tea, like me, this is a great place. I love to go in and get a pound of my favorite tea and sometimes spices. It's unassuming but well stocked. You could walk right by it without realizing.
Been shopping here for over a decade and a half. Theyre only open on weekdays but its absolutely worth arranging your schedule to swing by if you can. I make a big trip once a year or so and walk out with a massive haul at reasonable prices.

I drink a lot of ice tea, everyday. So I order two, one pound bags of either Darjeeling or Ceylon loose leaf black tea every couple months. I’ve ordered from a couple different companies over the years and it can be difficult to find the loose leaf, in these varieties and quantity at a good price. I’ve been ordering from SF Herb Co. for a while now and I’ve really been impressed with the quality of their product and their customer service! They consistently have the teas I want in stock and they get my orders shipped to me in very good time. I’m very happy that I found SF Herb Co.!!!
(Well, the "break in shipping" was a VERY short lived option. Now, when you look...there is a minimum order, which they then feel, not sure how.....justifies a min. of >$34 in shipping charge! No longer going to utilize this company, if anyone else would like the names of the quality products I have found to replace this 'money pit'....please reach out, I will gladly share.✨🌿) Shipping is hazardous to your health! FIRST, let me say....I love the quality of the herbs and teas I am ordering from this 'historic' herb enthusiast company. (I'd venture to say, you probably cannot find a better product.). However,the shipping is about double for the weight and location of the ship. Even with insurance added, you can find shipping closer to reasonable. I would love to promote this avenue for herbal apothecary, but find my hand and mouth slower to speak than I would if my shipping were under $20....than the almost twice that amount. 😞🤔
I cannot stress how wonderful the customer service is. I place a lot of large orders with SF Herb. If they are out of an item, they CALL me and ask if I want a substitute, or a partial order, what ever I need. Once I needed part of my order ASAP and I placed a special request in my order notes to ship one herb to me 2 day post, and the rest UPS. They truly come through! The herbs for the price are a great value. Congrats on 50 years! Here's to 50 more!

I’m very happy I came across the store on instagram, the order got delivered very fast and the products are beautiful, full of aroma! They do sell bigger quantities but that’s ok if you have a vacuum sealer for the excess! Will be buying more!
