The Phoenix Theatre Company

This was my second time attending a show at this theater and for the second time we loved our experience. Aside from the shows being incredible, with talented people, incredible voices and portraying their characters like they are on Broadway, the seats are comfortable even for a larger person with good leg room. The safe has always been polite and efficient. We look forward to attending another performance the next time we are in town.

A friend invited me to a musical for the color of purple. I haven't been to the theater in eons. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and wouldn't mind coming back to watch another. It was emotional for me and I had too much excitement on my face that one of the employees could tell that it was my first time there. She complimented me and shared how truly it was and refreshing to see the excitement on my face. That made me feel good to no end. It was a delight to receive such a compliment. I'm planning on enjoying more theater in my life. The last musical I had seen was in New York the avenue Q on Broadway which was in the early 2000s. I don't give myself a chance to enjoy more of it. I love going to the movies instead but I just realized it is night and day. Thanks to my friend who thought of me and I shared in the joy of supporting his two friends that casted in the musical. It was an honor to watch this musical.

Location is easy to find, and parking is close to the box office. The area is ADA friendly. There is a large wonderful garden to use as a backdrop for photos. To rehydrate whether via water or colorful alcoholic beverages, there is a bar with seating and small tables. Offered is the ability to buy a drink now and another for the intermission break. Since it's about a 30-yard walk between the theatre and the bar, you'll find your drink brought and just outside the entrance. What a wonderful idea! There are plenty of personnel to guide you to your seat. Be aware . you purchase a seat in the rear, and you'll be shoulder to shoulder with a stranger. However, to avoid that, there are seats with a small table closer to the stage. Attire was unusually casual. A light sweater wasn't needed. Restrooms were clean. What you need to know: a. The entire set up is conducive to everyone treating you as a valued person. b. Smile and staff will approach you. c. Drinks: are pricey. The four alcoholic drinks I purchased cost $60. d. Hang out: It's definitely worth arriving early 20 minutes to get your drinks (should you be with another), walk the garden, and leisurely get to your seats. e. Age range: I would say 50-upwards. If you're younger, try it out as you'll be welcomed and laugh. f. The audience, as well as the staff, were friendly. Always Smile and say Hello to a stranger, on that day, they may need it more than us.

We saw Into the Woods and thought it was phenomenal! Everyone was so talented and the drinks before were delicious. I love the atmosphere and we've enjoyed every show we've seen here. Definitely recommend.

Saw A Million Dollar Quartet musical. Would recommend and I would see it again. We were in the Hormel Theater, nice size. I don't think there is a bad seat in the House. Waiting for the doors to open can be awkward if you aren't planning on eating/drinking in the ArtBar + Bistro, as the lobby is small. However there is a nice lawn area with art sculptures to walk around. Parking is free and close by, which is also helpful.

I recently saw Jersey Boys at the Phoenix Theatre Company, and let me tell you—it was electric! From the very first note to the final bow, the energy, talent, and heart on that stage were absolutely unmatched. I’ve been coming to this theater since 2008, and while the space has grown and evolved over the years, one thing has stayed the same: the pure magic that happens here. The actors are phenomenal, the crew runs a seamless show, and the staff always makes you feel like a welcomed guest at something truly special. Every production I’ve seen here has blown me away, but Jersey Boys had me dancing in my seat and singing all the way home. (Frankie Valli high notes included.) I didn’t even make it to the parking lot before I was already searching for tickets to their next production—Into the Woods! If you’ve never been, do yourself a favor: grab a ticket, dress up a little, and prepare to be amazed. The Phoenix Theatre Company is a true gem in the Valley and continues to prove that Broadway-level talent lives right here in Arizona!

This review is for the new addition, the Stephenson Theatre which is a huge upgrade for the Phoenix Theatre Company campus and feels like a modern, almost‑Broadway space but still keeps the feeling of a community theatre. The theatre seating is designed so theres a good view from every location however, it seems a lot was packed into a small space (orchestra pit built under the stage!) and seating could be tight for some people. Impressive lighting and sound systems and an orchestra pit make shows like A Christmas Carol which we saw recently, feel full without losing intimacy. I usually prefer old traditional theatres, but I'm trying to appreciate the contemporary design. It works here though, as does the upstairs lobby that appears midcentury modern (which I also like) and was looking festive decorated for Christmas during our visit. There are signs that more enhancements are coming and I'm looking forward to them. Once the lobby finishes and any planned lounge spaces are complete, this could stand among the top regional venues in the Southwest. Update: This is for the Hormel Theatre where we saw 'Million Dollar Quartet' . Having this show in the smaller older theatre actually not that old, just maybe about 15 years, helped give the feeling of stepping back in time and making us feel intimately involved with the actors and music. Watching this show here was like actually being in Sun Records studio as famous and not yet famous musicians jammed to the music that introduced us to rock and roll.

I can't imagine a better show than the performance of Ever After with Alexander Mendoza as Prince Edward! All the cast was amazing... Danielle, Leonardo, Jacqeline, Gustav, the king and queen, and we must not forget the Baroness! The lighting was phenomenal and flawless, the music pristine, and the set a magnificent work of ever changing art. This is theater at its finest and I can't recommend it enough!

I saw Come From Away here and it was wonderful. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house, and the staff is welcoming and very helpful. The theater itself feels intimate enough that every seat has a great view of the stage. On a recent visit I also tried their happy hour before the show, and the food exceeded my expectations. It’s a great way to start the evening before settling in for a performance. A wonderful place to spend an evening enjoying live theater.

The new addition, the Stephenson, is amazing! Beautiful place to see a play. Les Mis was so good! All the actors and their voices were great. The first couple of rows are really close to the action. Light work and sound were both great. Cannot wait to see another play here.
