They have a good selection of unique one of a kind clothing. The pricing is fair based on the style and brand. The only thing that I'd love is for a small chair or two with mirrors like at a shoe store at the end of the shoe aisles to try on the shoes because when you want to try on shoes, you have to go over by the dressing room and the seats there are all taken which is fine because that's what they're there for but people tend to camp out there when they are waiting for someone in the dressing room. A little bit bigger shopping carts would be nice too but I realize this is an issue in itself. These minor things can all be easily resolved. Also kudos to the organization of the store. The shoes all seemed to be in the right spot as far as their size and all clothing sizes were in the right spot on the rack. I'm sure this is a hard thing to keep up with on a daily bases as customers move things around. The concept of the store is great and all the employees there are always friendly and helpful. Everyone seems like they enjoy working there which is nice for my shopping experience.
1) they tried to sell $3.90 socks for $10 lol. Old looking out of season socks that at their peak newness weren’t even worth $4. Madness 2) The rules are just stupid. You’re not allowed to leave the store (if you come to sell). They gave me a 40 minute wait time. What am I going to in here for almost an hour… I’m not a hostage.
You have to wait 45+ minutes inside if you choose to donate your clothes - they have no drop off option like all the other consignment stores (Crossroads, 2nd Street, Buffalo Exchange to name a few). I do appreciate the explanation of why some of my items weren’t accepted. That aside, waiting over an hour absolutely sucked and I don’t think I’ll go back if other stores can let me drop them off and continue to cater to my day/errands for the same % back. Update (In response to the below response): To clarify, I waited that long for items that I wanted to donate. I understand that items you do not accept are to be taken (optional), but this statement is unrelated to my review. The items in my box were also equivalent to 2 white trash bags, but I chose to put them in a box. I also did not drop this off on a Sunday.
I love selling my clothes here and the experience is usually great. These last few trips have been a bit draining in my humble opinion. No one has greeted me these last few times even when the store is not busy and the sale associates seem disingenuous. I understand that everyone is tired because I've worked retail and it's no easy job, but facial expressions these last few visits have been all over the place. I wouldn't mind a fake smile, but this was the icing on the cake. Please do better Uptown Cheapskate.
This is a great place to shop! I always find great pieces from brands I love. The thing that sets UC apart from other resale stores is that they mostly carry higher quality brands. That means you can find quality clothes easily instead of rifling through racks for who knows how long (who has time for that?). The staff is welcoming and friendly. I'll be back for sure!
I called the store before heading out to confirm what time they would stop accepting buys. The girl who answered told me they would accept them until 6:00. When I arrived at 5:30, she informed me they were no longer accepting purchases. I explained that I had called ahead because the store was more than 20 minutes away, but she just stated that their policy was to stop accepting purchases at 5:30.
I was like a kid in a candy store it was my first time going into uptown cheapskates they did not disappoint! I went to the one in University Park today is Sunday and I'm going to the one in Addison. I'm so excited!!
They pay you good money for your clothes when you sell to them. But the reason I’m giving 2 stars is because 3 different workers in the front were working on my clothes and I told them to make sure they put everything back in the same bag because I separated them by shorts, pants , jackets, shirts , dresses , etc and I was going to take them to other stores to sell as well….and well they didn’t listen to me. Lamely enough they ended up not returning one of my reusable sky blue tote bags that was filled with brand new designer bohemian and eclectic outfits . I never got it back. Before I left the store, I talked to one of the guy’s to make sure they gave me all of my bags back, and I asked if they were sure they gave me everything back, and he said yes. So when I realized my bag of tops and dresses was missing, I called and was told my bag was in their store and they ended up donating it. Eventually, I was going to donate what didn’t get bought but what’s lame is they took away my chance of selling to other locations. They made it inconvenient for me to sell my remainder clothes to other stores because I had a handful of two- piece top/ bottom outfits, which they inconveniently did not bother to keep together. So when i was selling to other thrift shops I was left with 1 piece of my 2 piece outfits because the other half of the outfit was apparently in the bag Uptown Cheapskate donated. Out of all the bags it happened to be THE ONE with the new, designer clothing. Eventually I was going to donate the remainder but first I wanted sell to other spots. Before leaving I had asked a guy up front to double check that everything was given back and he said everything was given back to me 100% . So I didn’t doubt him. But this is a super lame example of how a strangers carelessness can have an affect on another persons financial plans. It would’ve been great if they just kept everything together as I asked them too. So long story short count how many bags you bring in and make sure they give you all your bags back . Especially the bags filled with your money making items .
Today was dollar day and it was a mad house. Lots of great deals & the staff (particularly the young lady handling the changing rooms) dealt with customers in such a patient way despite some nastiness from them. Kudos to the workers for dealing with the madness with good attitudes.
Bring light used clothes, get paid... Generous amount of clothes for shopping always changing q u ck day gear.
