Something about this place changed, most likely the cook. Been here multiple times over the years and it's always been fairly consistent. However this time was so bad I won't go back again. Ordered a dry mix and one with broth. The one with broth went from decently flavorful to completely bland like water and for the food inside it's not much better. The dry mix one was even worse. The ingredients are barely cooked through, the squid and tripe is very very soft a sign of it not being cooked enough, and unlike before where everything is dry and seems to be stir fried, this time it was sitting in a pool of water. It wasn't prepared correctly and was downright awful.

Got the chicken and noodles with vegan style Mala stir fry and max spicy, It was really good. Chester helped me pick stuff and explained how the system works there and recommended me options that go with my dietary restrictions (No beef and no pork). It was very much worth the visit for me and I do hope to come back again when I go to philly.

This place doesn't provide water. You have to pay for that. Feels like a thirst trap (forceing us to by a beverage) as the soups are somewhat salty.

The quality of the food was good, but the taste and texture was a mix. The first night my classic spicy soup pot came out bland, with the beef tripe overcooked. On a second visit, I ordered dry pot with the mild spicy option. It was on the salty side, but the texture was more consistent across my selection of sausages, tofu, and vegetables. Will probably come back for a quick meal but not a top priority.

Always have a good time here, food is always good, staff is friendly as well. My favorite soup option is the original malatang. Recommend paying in cash.

The ingredients were fresh, with a huge selection to choose from- vegetables, tender meats, fresh seefood etc. The flavors are outstanding and a complimentary drink is included in a meal. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is a consistently solid, reliable pick for mala soup or spicy stir fry. I've been here multiple times and each time the food is exactly how I remember it. It's a pay-by-weight situation so you can pick exactly what you want and you bring it to the front for them to cook. The staff are nice and they usually have a free drink deal as well. The sauce bar has all the essentials (but I wish they would add fermented tofu paste) and is well kept. The atmosphere is a little chaotic as the music's pretty loud and there's a loudspeaker that blares order numbers, but it's not too terrible for a no-frills restaurant. I do wish they had more seating, as it's hard to get a spot with a group of more than 3-4.

Not bad. It's completely self-service. You grab a bowl and tongs to pick out your own toppings. The price is based on weight. Large variety of seafood, fish balls, tofu, meat, eggs, veggies, and noodles. Then you pick a soup base or dry pot base and bring items to cashier. Once the food is done cooking, they'll ring your number to go to the desk and grab the food. However, they didn't serve any water. You MUST purchase water. There were also flies at the sauce station
