A&R Solar

My solar monitoring device has not been working for about 2 years according to them. They told me they would contact me to schedule a visit from a tech. After a couple of months, I get an email saying they will close my case because I have not reached out to them. After I pointed out that they told me they would contact me, they rescinded. They also mixed my account up with a different account altogether. They came out and looked but could not find anything wrong. They suggested resetting the breaker. I told them I did, but they didn't believe me so I had to take a video of me resetting it and send it to them. Then they said they would have their operations manager Tina contact me to set up a time to come out. A month goes by with no contact. They email me again to tell me it was my fault. I again had to tell them that they told me she would be in contact with me. I told them i had wasted so much time with this and I didn't want to take any time off from work so I would email them with my availability. I emailed them and they say they are too busy and booked out so it will take another 4-6 weeks to send someone out. I told them they needed to figure out how to accommodate me and they have not responded in the last 2 days. Would be happy to update the score if they would show the slightest bit of concern, compassion, or willingness to make things right. So far that has not happened.

It's been 2 years since our install and I still refer everyone to A & R. They were great to work with and we haven't had to pay for electricity for almost 2 years now.

Short version: If you live in Oregon or Washington and are thinking of going solar, A&R Solar should be your first choice. Long version: Now that my system is up and running, I am happy to report that working with A&R Solar for my system install was a joy from start to finish. Their sales people were happy to answer my countless questions without ever being pushy. Spencer specifically was extremely helpful throughout the process, even taking the time to stop by in-person to take measurements to give us accurate production estimates and ensure we would qualify for state incentives. Their prices are competitive, their warranties are as good or better than every other installer I've researched, and the panels they use are top-of-the-line in terms of efficiency. They are careful not to exaggerate their production estimates, incentivized by their policy of compensating for underproduction. Their system designers are also talented, and were able to put together a system that squeezed in more panels than any other design proposal I received. Installation was done in under a week, and I appreciated that the installers were courteous and fairly flexible with regards to their start time. The only hiccup with the install was related to consumption monitoring, but this was quickly resolved after reporting the issue to the project manager, Tina, who has been very responsive throughout the entire process. Questions or concerns raised with their support team are usually answered by the following business day, and sending a tech out for an issue hasn't ever taken longer than a week.

We had a great experience working with A&R Solar. A&R Solar installed our system one year ago and so far all of our expectations have been met: the system has had no maintenance issues and we've produced at or greater than the expected amount of electricity given our system size. A&R did a great job communicating with us from start to finish during each step of the process. Before the installation, the team did a great job going over all of our options for different system sizes and array placement options on our roof. Pre-install inspections of the roof and electrical system all happened on time. The installation itself happened on time and went off without a hitch, and the team was very respectful of our house and property. They also handled everything regarding permits and communicating with PGE to get our system activated. We highly recommend A&R Solar if you are considering solar for your home. We recently had A&R Solar install a Franklin Whole Home battery backup system (30 kWh), and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Our journey began with Spencer Drew, who took the time to carefully listen to our goals and energy needs. Rather than trying to sell us a larger project, he provided honest and thoughtful advice, explaining that solar was not the best fit for our situation while a battery backup system made excellent sense. His knowledge, transparency, and professionalism gave us confidence from day one. Once the project moved forward, Tina Kayser took over as project manager and was outstanding. She guided us through every step of the process, including permits, inspections, utility requirements, scheduling, and installation. Communication was excellent throughout, and there were never any surprises. What impressed us most was the quality of the work and attention to detail. Back in 2018, I selected A&R Solar for adding solar to my house. I researched solar for several months and picked 5 or 6 companies to quote, and ultimately selected A&R Solar for a few reasons. One, they are a B-corp, which is a plus in my book. Also, the initial consultations were straight forward without any of the salesmanship or pressure campaigns other companies will use to try to sneak in extras or upgrades that do not add a lot of value to me. Also, their bid was well aligned with what I expected (not the highest or lowest bid). A&R listened carefully to my inputs and goals based on the research I had done in advance, and we came up with a good solution for my house. Installation day came, and everything went very smoothly. The install team was very professional and worked hard and squeezed into some tight spaces to get the wiring where it needed to go to support the placement of the inverter unit I was looking for. Everything was completed professionally and they did a good job cleaning up. Since installation day, everything has been running smoothly. I had a very pleasant experience with A&R Solar with no thrills or drama, which is just the way I wanted it. When Mom wanted to install solar at her house, she looked at multiple companies including A&R. She also selected A&R and was happy with the work as well. I would absolutely recommend A&R Solar.
