Easy way to curb the increase in power costs. A&R has our back, and we rec recommend their company as a dependable professional and dependable solar part ner.
Such a great experience. Each person I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable from the sales person (Isabelle) to the project manager (Tina). Great communication. The installers (Dan, Jacob and Guillermo) were just wonderful and did a terrific job.
I spent three years researching solar and interviewed at least 11 companies in that time. A&R became my top candidate in year two, but at the time, the economics of solar and my home’s sun potential didn’t quite make sense for me. Throughout my search, I encountered plenty of pushy sales tactics—some painfully obvious. A&R stood out immediately. They didn’t pressure me, they encouraged me to get other bids, and, surprisingly, they taught me what questions I should be asking other companies. That transparency mattered. For example, most companies push manufacturer warranties as if they’re their own. A&R, however, went beyond that. They take pride in their workmanship and back it up with their own warranty, which set them apart. Look for that—it makes a difference. They also educated me about not just the panels they were selling me, but other high-quality options, explaining why they recommended what they did. That level of openness gave me confidence in my decision. When I returned to A&R a year later, they picked up right where we left off. I still got one more quote, but it was so high it was comical, making my decision easy. Once I moved forward, I entered the down payment and planning phase. A&R recommended a lender (helpful), but they have no official relationship—so you’re on your own, which is both good and bad. They don’t make a kickback, which I respect. However, I ran into unexpected financing hurdles, not A&R’s fault, but something I wish the bank or A&R had flagged earlier. My bank held a 10% retainer for the final payment, which isn’t uncommon, but I didn’t know to expect it until I was scrambling to move money around. It all worked out, but keep that in mind. Initially, my install date was six months out, which I wasn’t thrilled about. But A&R moved it up by three months, which made me really happy. When install day came, the crew was fantastic—professional, friendly, and detail-oriented. They took great care to make the installation as visually unobtrusive as possible. I’ve had a lot of installs of other things over the years, and this was the best install crew I’ve worked with. Now, I’ll be honest—solar is ugly to me. It’s roof stuff, conduit, and panels—it is what it is. But A&R made sure I was comfortable with the design at every stage and routed everything in a way that was both cost-effective and as unobtrusive as possible. In fact, they cared more about the aesthetics than I did. The install took a little longer than planned, but that was because they didn’t cut corners—they took the time needed to do it right, and I truly appreciated that. If you’re considering solar, A&R is the way to go. They’re honest, knowledgeable, and they care about their work. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
I had a wonderful experience with A&R as they installed a 18kW rooftop system along with three powerwalls and a couple EV chargers. It was a fairly complex job with a steep roof and limited options for equipment placement and conduit runs. I appreciated the thorough documentation package they put together at the start to show how everything was going to be connected, and they addressed all my questions quickly and thoroughly. The on-site installers worked with me from the start to define a strategy to keep things like electrical runs as hidden as possible. They have a big team and attacked my project with full force to get it wrapped up quickly. Everyone on-site was very professional and hard working and knew what they were doing. Isabelle was great on the front-end sales side as well. As other reviews mention, the sales are low pressure and she was patient at it took me a while to study some things before giving the go ahead. She was very thorough and was able to answer all my questions which got pretty detailed at times. I had talked to a few other installers over the years and definitely encountered some that appeared to be high pressure marketing organizations, unable to address even mildly complicated questions. So far the system is working superbly. We have been generating more electricity than we consume since April, despite having 2 EVs and two full kitchens. We haven't had a real power outage since the install, but really enjoy the peace of mind of having the powerwalls there for backup. I would absolutely recommend A&R for solar and/or battery install.
Isabelle Nagel-Brice was our point person for our adventure in solar, and we loved it! We're data focused individuals (give us those numbers!) and A&R Solar (and Isabelle) delivered; they were the only company that provided us with detailed information on what to expect, the stats on the panels/equipment, how the system works over the years, and great data points on projected expenses and savings through current trends. We spoke with a few other vendors prior to A&R Solar and they were solely marketing focused that it was so off-putting since any time we asked for data and details they'd provide very weak and 'safe' responses. Not to mention, none of them had an accurate image of our roof, and would place panels (and holes) all over our roof instead of a nice clean slab. Isabelle was the total opposite and came prepared with white papers, spec sheets, estimates, and the like. The installation went flawlessly, and their electrician and support staff were top-notch and even offered to paint the conduit pipe on the exterior so it would fade into our siding. The app that comes with the system is also pretty awesome as it shows you your historical output, you can match against your energy billing cycle for comparisons and, ultimately, getting that nominal bill from PGE is icing on that delicious solar cake! Lastly, we decided to overbuild out system to future-proof a bit and we figured that any excess Kw/h we generate would go towards low income folks - it was a win-win in our eyes. The total cost was agreeable, and maybe a bit higher than some of the national solar installers, but I prefer working with local folks that know the region, we can relate a bit, and show expertise and care in their trade. If I could somehow give more than 5 stars I would! Thank you A&R (and Isabelle and crew) for a wonderful experience, quality work, and the smallest electric bill I've ever seen (and hopefully for the next 20+ years!)
Thank you A&R Solar! We love the new look to our home! Everyone was very nice and professional during the design and install. When we have questions, they are never too busy to answer. An added plus is that we no longer pay for electricity! We have a battery on the system, which has come in handy during power outages. And the phone app lets us know when that happens even when we are not at home, so we know the battery is keeping our home powered with heat, lights, fridge/freezer, TV and WiFi. A&R Solar did us good!
First and foremost, my wife and I want to thank the entire A&R team for making the entire process reassuring. Odd description, but very important. A valuable investment takes time, as it did our investment in solar panels, storage cells, grid integration, and electric vehicle (EV) charging station. Our system needed to prevent impacts of grid outages to our home office, peace of mind during a major outage, especially the Cascadia Earthquake, and charge an EV. We didn't have an EV, but knew we would eventually. Our 1960s home had been updated, but addition of an our system required innovative design to install, integrate and use the system. Our process started in early 2023, was installed in early 2024 and we added a plug-in EV in early 2025. We've avoided all impacts of grid outages, many we didn't even know had occurred, except for neighbors. By practicing being off grid, we have a good understanding of how to be comfortable for 3-7 days using our system. Charging the EV every day, using air-conditioning daily and working from the home office 50 hours/week we pay only the basic charge May-September. We are able to use PGE's Off-peak rate plan to recharge the storage batteries during the lowest rate period. Also, we found out recently, in our neighborhood our system increased the value of our home by more than the investment. One side note. We also so enjoy reducing our impact on climate change and consuming less petroleum and natural gas.
So pleased with my Silfab 440s and Enphase inverter setup. They worked with me to get the panel layout I wanted and even oversized a bit to future-proof for our upcoming plug-in vehicle purchase.
Team at A&R are top notch! They did a great job from design to installation. 9.6 kw roof mount system working fantastically. Talked to several different solar contractors and are more than satisfied with our A&R solar system. Communication and professionalism are 5 star. Will be using again!
A&R was terrific. They were extremely organized, precessional and did high quality work. They build our solar system exactly as they said hey would, with no hiccups. I would work with them again
