A&R Solar

I worked with six solar contractors when I wanted to install solar panels on the home I had recently moved into. Through this process it became clear that A&R Solar was the company I wanted to do the installation. My reasons for this had to do with several factors: A&R Solar had the best technology of all the companies; in terms of the capacity of the panels, the effective micro inverter system, the installation workmanship; and the clarity of communications and level of competence among all the staff who worked on this job. From the initial outreach, the assessment, the installation and clean up -- all staff were well informed and did great work. They did an excellent job that was a good value for my investment. I turns out that a couple of years after the installation, I had a house fire that required the panels to be removed, evaluated and later reinstalled. A&R Solar efficiently and carefully removed the system, and after the reconstruction returned to do the reinstallation. and got my system working again. Both of these tasks were done well, and left me with benefitting from my solar generation once again. I am deeply grateful for both the people and the products involved with A&R Solar. I recommend them highly, and encourage everyone to do side by side comparisons with other companies. You will likely come to the same conclusion I did.

Great experience from sales to post-installation. Everything was well explained, the install team is professional and supportive, and the support team has been responsive. Wish I had more home to install solar panels and batteries into.

We just received permission to operate our new rooftop solar system, installed by A&R Solar. We were impressed with A&Rs professionalism and transparent communication. The sales process was smooth. Spencer came out to see the location, and work through options before providing a quote. We were able to adjust the design to sneeze out a bit more efficiency while improving the look of the panel layout. When it came time to schedule the work, their team was booked out, but Tina was able to fit us in a few weeks early. Adrian and his team did the install. They took one more day than expected after a few challenges were encountered, but their workmanship and courteousness while on the job were commendable. They worked tirelessly in the cold and rain to get the job done. A&R's price was a bit higher than some other bids we received, but the professionalism and reputation of the company made up for the difference. Would gladly recommend them.

I can not give a high enough recommendation. We initially selected A&R because it is a B-Corp and is employee owned. We live in a 110 year old house in a historic district in Portland. A&R went above and beyond when the City made the permitting process extremely difficult. They preparing engineering studies and additional supporting documentation. Phoebe was outstanding in explaining everything. The installation was top-notch and we are very happy with the performance of the system.

We purchased and installed a grid tied PV system in Spring of 2024. We obtained 3 proposals. A&R's service was stellar and price was fair. The thing that set them apart is simply service! They focused on what our needs and goals and about possible limitations of our 1926 house. One of the other firms just wanted a signed contract and "work out the details" later. A&R focused on feasibility first rather than 'try to get the sale'. They took a bunch of measurements from the rafters and reviewed with their structural team, ahead of time. Supplementally based on their inspection they also connected us with a quality roofer, incorporating a re-roof at the same time. They gave a lot of thought to how to integrate the control panel and intertie. They managed the whole permit process with the City (which is no small process ;-). Their install team was very professional, would clean up every day and carefully stored materials. The lead electrician even painted some conduit on the exterior of the house just for aesthetic reasons. Now we have a power bill only 2 months of the year and the system has consistently overperformed from the contract amount of power, so I know its well designed. Great experience overall, 100% recommend!

We recently had a new 19 panel array and 1 PW3 installed in May by A&R Solar and so far the system has been working fantastically. I have already had basically a zero electric bill and have banked enough kWh to carry me through the winder months. Although the panels face west, the panels still receive sunlight and begin producing electricity early in the AM. The installation of both the panels and PW3 were installed by highly skilled and knowledgeable mechanics and electricians. We are very satisfied with the system and the amount of work everyone complete such as Energy Trust incentive paperwork and all required building permits. They did it all and were certainly on time. They even removed my 14 year old out of date solar panels. Great project for us!

Overall, we’re really happy with how our solar project turned out! There were a few bumps along the way—mainly some communication issues that caused a bit of stress—but the team took ownership of any problems that arose and made sure they were resolved to our satisfaction. We feel confident in the quality of the installation and appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail shown by the crew throughout the process. In the end, we’re glad we went with A&R Solar and would happily recommend them!

I worked with the team at A&R Solar in 2022 to have solar panels installed, and again in 2023 to have backup batteries installed. I could not be more pleased with the results. The solar system works flawlessly, substantially reducing my power bills, and the back up batteries instantly kick in whenever there is a grid problem. The team at A&R is very professional and efficient, and communication was excellent from every team member. They have such a positive company culture and it shows in every interaction.
