The food was amazing! Tried 3 dishes and all were full of flavor! The chicken katsu curry was a little different than expected (Thai curry (had coconut milk) rather than Japanese), but worked well with the thin crispy katsu laid over the scoop of rice. Loco Moco had a nice shiitake gravy and a juicy patty. Friendly service, although the place was a little loud due to an open kitchen
I've been coming here for years, and it continues to be the best Hawaiian restaurant I've found in Portland. Granted, I haven't ever been to HI, so I can't speak to Ate-Oh-Ate's authenticity, but in terms of quality of ingredients, portion size, friendliness of staff, and cleanliness, this place is great! I have tried their burgers, pulled pork, and teriyaki chicken, and all are delicious. However, the standout, in my opinion, is the Kalbi Short Ribs, which are cross-cut and cooked perfectly. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 for atmosphere is because their TV used to show almost exclusively surf videos, and last time I visited, it was just regular TV.
Super tasty! Best Hawaiian bbq I've had. One plate lasted me 3 different meals. I had the teriyaki chicken 🍗 Butter mochi was also to die for! I can't wait to come back!
Teriyaki chicken was Cold & DRY. No sause was given to add to the rice. The worst part was the mac salad, it was not traditional hawaiian style mac and the amount of pepper over took any other flavor. Will not order from here again. Waited an hour + for this.

As someone from the 808 myself, this place didn’t care about my time. Look I know I’m not special but when 9 people get their order before me? Even asked TWICE only getting 2 items. The 2 females in the front obviously seen me waiting too. This the only negative review I’ve ever made as I am usually a chill person but this place doesn’t represent a Ohana feeling like the 808 and will have no shame in taking 9 other orders before yours. Don’t recommend at all and recommend going to “Ohana” down in Milwaukee as they actually make your food in a reasonable time and acknowledge you at least exist.
This place is great, very good food and very friendly staff. I sampled a alot of food and everything was great. I noticed alot of people take out so it wasn't packed to dine in. I'm definatly going to come back here.
We don't really have many Hawaiian food places on the East coast so we had to try one while out here. My wife got the Loco Loco which she enjoyed. I got the Teriyaki Chicken and my only complaint was that it was a little cold. The macaroni salad was pretty good. I usually ignore it but I did like this one for a change.
Good flavor and big portions. Had the teriyaki chx plate with mac salad. Yum. Yum. Yum.
