Carbon Health Urgent & Primary Care San Francisco - Castro

No x-ray. I needed an x ray to check for broken bones. I called the front desk to confirm that the urgent care could perform an x-ray this evening. I was given a confident “yes,” so I decided to go. After a painful walk, I show up for my appointment and after paying copay and waiting 30 minutes to be seen, I was told there is no x-ray onsite. I was told I would have to make an appointment for that separately at a different urgent care location further away. This location’s waiting room is also problematic from a privacy and HIPAA standpoint. I heard the private medical details of multiple other patients during my time in the small, concrete waiting room, including a conversation the front desk had with the patient about their stool sample. I have no doubt my identifying information was audible to other patients as well.

Walked in today without an appointment for a finger infection and the team took awesome care of me. I was in and out in just over an hour and the provider I saw (Josh, I believe) was thorough, efficient, and delivered awesome care to me during my visit. He even called in an Rx before I left so that I was able to pick it up on my way home 😎 After a couple sub-par experiences with health care recently this helped restore my faith a bit 🙏

Got me in nice and quick, agreed with the course of treatment. Glad that the waiting room is big and it’s a nice office overall. Friendly staff. I do think they need better signage on the exit door — you have to push a button on the wall- not the door. The signs they have … could be …. More attention grabbing in some way 😂… based on how the receptionist had to say “button on the wall” makes me think I’m not the only one who missed it !

I like the PC I see, but whatever you do, DO NOT let them send your lab work out. They send it to a random "healthtrackrx" (not labcorp or quest) which doesn't run your insurance. I am still getting new bills every few weeks from them, that I pay in full each time, even though my appointment was 4 months ago. They charge ~2x what labcorp and quest charge for the same tests, so your insurance, even if it's amazing, will not pay for even half of the cost. To add insult to injury, the lab provider they use sells your data for marketing and other purposes, which should be against the law for simply trying to pay a medical bill.

I would like to file a complaint against your nurse practitioner Katie Gutman. I have to bring this to your attention. The experience that I had with your nurse practitioner, Katie Gutman was extremely unprofessional from the beginning to the end. The moment she came in to greet me she was logged into the wrong office and assumed I was a completely different client that was coming in for an ear infection I was in fact coming in from a surgery operation that Joshua Baxter attended me for two days previously. he was extremely professional in comparison to Katie Gutman from the beginning she showed very little care or compassion for my injury. Edited ~ shortly one day after this, the manager Tania reached out to me and address my concern regarding the nurse katy bedside manner and reported her to upper management and Tania made me another appointment same day and comped my entry fee and I was seen by another nurse Yumi, who made me feel completely at ease, and it was very kind to me and I would like to say that this clinic is very attentive The staff are truly really kind. I would definitely recommend this clinic.

So easy to get a same day appointment, love that I can fill out all the forms in the app and my info gets saved so I don’t have to re-enter it every time. Staff is always competent. Some nurses could be friendlier and the facility could use a little refresh but those are minor gripes.

The care was fabulous. I was seen quickly, and the NP who worked with me was kind. It was next to impossible to reach anyone at the clinic by phone, though. I tried for 2 days, and it was a time sensitive matter regarding an error with my prescription; thankfully, the pharmacist eventually dispensed it anyways. She had decided it would be more important that I got the medication than to have to keep trying to reach someone at the clinic.

I arrived on time for a 3:15 appt but had to wait nearly 90 minutes until around 4:40 for the NP to see me. I felt maybe they were understaffed but I didn’t see or hear many other patients being assisted so I’m not sure why it took so long. Maybe Carbon is allowing people to book beyond capacity since this is urgent care after all, but it would be super beneficial to at least have an estimated wait time on the app when booking or at least being told by the front desk. After the first hour of waiting in the checkup room, I had to ask the MA for an update since I wasn’t told much else other than “we’re running a little behind today”. I understand this is an urgent care so I didn’t expect to be seen right away, but 80 minutes in the uncomfortable exam chair is not an ideal way to spend the afternoon. Not really sure who is at fault but I think Carbon should improve its urgent care experience, since this has never happened to me at primary care visits.

Very pleasant and relaxed experience. Everyone was friendly as much as they were supposed to. I paid out of pocket and the thing I liked most, and probably why I decided to go there, was the immediate availability of pricing online. So no hidden fees or unknown factors.

The medical staff were attentive and caring. Good choice for urgent care needs.
