This was highkey the cleanest Restaurant/Bar I’ve ever been in my life. The kitchen, was pristine…like, not a crumb, stain, or random thing out of place. I’ve never seen anything like that. The decor, modern, minimal, yet exquisite. The bar/bartender clean and cozy…he was also very knowledgeable on spirits. I asked for a mocktail and he made one off the top of his head and it was great! I only got wings and a salad but they both were pretty chill. Nothing was nasty, but at the same time it wasn’t something I ate and was like OMG I NEED to come back. I honestly feel like the overall experience is what makes me want to come back…and just to circle back…this literally was the cleanest Restaurant/Bar I’ve been to in my life lol.
Great food. Wow, the butter on the pancakes is delightful. Flip side, the server had a tough time with time management. The only thing the server did truly well is get the food out hot. Highest priority was making time with the skirts. Setting up the next party. Dude! And inexcusably, the table *looked* clean but had sticky blotches on it. Guessing there is not a mini-bucket with hot water on hand ?!? In general, the place seemed dirty, worn, tired, uncared-for. Definitely not 'posh'. Spending $32 for an entree & side, no drink, certainly not a belly filler meal but tasty, one might expect a spotlessly clean environment. A professional waitstaff - not chatty or bothersome, just professional. My advice: Move all the tables and chairs into the center of the room and scrub the bejesus out of the floor. Scour extra hard along the perimeters. It's an illusion, but clean corners fool one into thinking everything is clean. Scrub the heck out of every table and chair. Mild soap, a little ammonia, rinse your scrubbers often, rinse with clean hot water, let the floor get inundated ... then vac up the mess. Repeat once a week. It's a six-hour process. See you in a year or three. Maybe . . .
I love this place. I study in the study section and occasionally get food from the COOP. It has a beautiful atmosphere and the service is always a joy. Special shoutout to Craig, he was really considerate and went the extra mile in terms of service :)
Had been hearing of the classy, tasty spot Co-Op in University City and had never gone out that way. Finally made a trip and boy am I glad I did. Ambiance - the place radiates good vibes. It’s bright, airy, clean, and new looking. Decor is spot on and you instantly feel welcome and cozy. It’s also attached to ‘The Study’ which is adorable. Service- top notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu. She was happy to make recommendations, all of which were stellar. Drinks- super sophisticated drink menu with some awesome, inventive cocktails. Def a good place to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Food- everything we had was absolutely top notch. The scallop ceviche was unreal- so fresh and bursting with flavor. The bread with warm ricotta tastes how a hug feels. The gnocchi are some of the best I’ve had - so big and fluffy, and the mojo shrimp was absolutely to die for. Loved the cauliflower dukkah (awesome vegan choice), and every dessert was amazing - definitely try the key lime pie, the tres leches cake, and/or the blueberry pie- YUM! Overall excellent experience that I’d highly recommend!
My mother and I attempted to visit CO-OP Restaurant & Bar for the first time, but we ultimately chose to leave before being seated due to an incredibly poor interaction with the hostess, Graesen. After seeing great reviews online, we were excited to try it and had already paid for parking in a nearby private lot. Upon arrival, we were told seating was limited due to Penn graduation weekend, which we completely understood. However, the disappointment lay entirely in how that message was delivered. As first-time guests, we weren't familiar with the layout or the difference between the lounge/bar and main dining room seating. Instead of helping us navigate our options or checking availability, the hostess spoke to us in a condescending, dismissive tone that immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A host sets the tone for the entire dining experience, and this interaction completely turned us off from wanting to support the establishment. We left feeling disrespected, out of pocket for non-refundable parking, and with no desire to return. A incredibly disappointing first impression.
Great breakfast at Co-op. Good food, and my server, Craig, was an incredible host and made me feel so welcome in Philadelphia, giving me local tips on which museums, restaurants, and bars are the best in town. I had an awesome time and learned a lot at Museum of the Revolutionary War thanks to Craig!
Had an amazing first visit to CO-OP earlier this week! The ambiance is elevated and refined—perfect for a date night or a classy evening out. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by Steve, who was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. He gave great recommendations and clearly knows his way around the cocktail and food menu. I started with their signature ‘CO-OP’ cocktail—their take on a Clover Club—and it was absolutely delicious. After that, I ordered a French 75, which was crisp, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. Both drinks were crafted with care and paired really well with the food. I ordered the beet salad with added salmon, and it did not disappoint. The salmon was perfectly cooked—flakey, well-seasoned, and tender—and the salad itself was fresh with a great presentation. Compliments to the chef! Looking forward to coming back soon to check out their brunch and happy hour menus. Definitely a gem worth revisiting.
For a hotel restaurant and bar, this place has good food, great drinks and a cool vibe. We started with the Gem Salad. Which seems simple, but it was delicious. the Bucatini Bolognese was good but felt that it could have used a touch of spice to kick things up. We also opted for a side of fries that were crispy and had great texture. The drinks are on point. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and the service across the entire restaurant is very good. Leave room for dessert. I really wanted the creme brûlée but they were sold. so we had the pistachio tart instead. Well, the universe was looking out for us because it was the best tart I have ever had.
I reallly loved these pancakes oh my I have to come back. Everything is as fresh and definitely a nice aesthetic as well
Perfect birthday breakfast. Cozy atmosphere, amazing food, and one of the best starts to our day. First time visiting, and we chose CO-OP Restaurant & Bar as our first stop to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday, and everything was a solid 10 out of 10 from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cozy, warm, and peaceful. The space felt clean, welcoming, and relaxed, which made it the perfect setting to start a special day. The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive without being overwhelming, and the service was smooth and timely throughout our visit. We decided to enjoy a little breakfast feast, and every item was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We started with freshly squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice, which were both refreshing and a great way to begin the meal. The house-made buttermilk pancake was served in a small skillet and was the perfect size, light, and delicious. We also had the house-made buttermilk biscuits with honey butter and jam, which were outstanding. Alongside that, we ordered a side of avocado, French toast, and an omelet filled with mushrooms, spinach, and cheese. Everything was delightful, well balanced, and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. What really stood out was the overall experience. Great food, excellent service, and a comfortable upscale vibe that made the morning feel special without being rushed. If you are looking for a great spot for breakfast or brunch, whether it is for a special occasion or simply a quality start to your day, I highly recommend CO-OP Restaurant & Bar. This was our first visit, and it definitely will not be our last.
