Staying at the Westin and wanted a bottled shop within walking distance. Wow, just wow. I found it! I had an excellent Cashier-less experience. I knew as soon I walked in that this place was different and was helped to set my app. Took only a few minutes. Brian greeted me once I was scanned in and offered to help with any questions. Pretty sure I had Newbie written on my forehead. Anyway, he was beyond knowledgeable about the wines I was interested in and I walked out with two bottles, one recco and one random pick! Can’t wait til Phoenix has one of these Amazon Fresh style liquor stores. Thanks Downtown Spirits for the one of kind shopping experience!
When we asked why we had to scan a credit card with a $49 charge to enter the store we were told by the employee "that's the way technology works" in an extremely condescending tone with no other explanation. Terrible experience. Would give 0 stars if that was an option.
What a complete and utter bummer. Their new location requires you to download their app and sign up for a membership (for a minimum of $3 per month) just to get in the door to look!! Same setup as Amazon - scan a QR code to get in. I was told "we're not ready to allow non-members access." Huh? You don't want my business? Crazy. It's also now in the heart of downtown so you'll either have to pay $10 to park in the adjacent lot or drive around and around looking for a space on the street. We used to love this place and were regular customers of the previous location which had a great selection, free parking and nice staff. I find it very hard to believe these are the same owners/managers.
Got a couple bottles delivered. Fair price, the first delivery was free though it's not too expensive anyway ($5 flat fee or something), and fast. Less than 90 minutes between placing the order and arrival.
I live in abroad, and ordered a gift to be delivered to a dear friend who works in Seattle. There were some questions about my order, and the customer service I got was quick, absolutely fantastic, and friendly. I've already recommended this shop to my local and online friends, and definitely plan to be a repeat customer. I love the online ordering and local delivery option!
Ordered for delivery, got it as estimated and brands as ordered, but paid for a 12pk and received a 6pk...for the same price. Called in, and it was rectified in less than 30 seconds; staff was quick to acknowledge the mistake and fault, and immediately sent their driver back with the correction. Ordering was simple, driver was professional, they called or texted when needed, and even though an error occurred... It was quickly dealt with. Decent customer service, goes a long way.
If you are black, do not shop here. Even after paying to enter, they still follow you around the store. I have already paid; it is not as if I can steal anything.
Great business, nice folks, excellent selection. Why 2 stars? Their delivery system leaves much to be desired. I’ve placed two orders through their website (they’re no longer available on Drizzly) and both have been massively delayed. They charge $10 for delivery (double their competitor) and promise to be there within an hour. The reality for me has been more like 1.75 - 2 hours. On both instances, I’ve called them at the hour mark and been told that my order slipped through the cracks and they would send out the driver “ASAP”. This is unacceptable for a $10 delivery charge. As much as I’d love to continue ordering from them, I will be taking my business elsewhere. In the days of ubiquitous online ordering, reliability matters.
This place was so great before it closed and moved to 7th. Just tried to go into the new location and you need an app and a membership to go in. Also, don’t think they are “family owned” anymore as the person at the counter mentioned something about the store having to do with Amazon Fresh. Sad because they had a great variety when at the last location, but not going to be a monthly membership when there’s so many free stores with a great selection. Oh, and I hate the app thing…I wanted to go in and get my beers and go, not to have to download something and set up an account. Won’t ever go back now that it’s like this :/
New business model is huge a hassle for new customers. Wanted to spend 5min grabbing a case, and spent 15+ minutes trying to setup their app and then my credit card rejected the purchase. The employees were not friendly or helpful. They said I had to call the credit card company. Absolute joke of a business model unless you're a regular. I hope more stores don't go this direction. Old location was OG, new location is a waste of time.
