Fred Meyer

I have been in and out of the Er and between pharmacies all week. i fell asleep in my car in this f. Meyer parking garage after waiting kn prescriptions and for the store to reopen. Got woken by 3 employees who proceeeded to execute possibly the most obscenely juvenile experience ive ever been privy to as an adult. I dont remember how they began aside from jubiliantly waking me up. I had groggily asked if the store was open and they told me there was no way I was going in there. I told them i had prescriptions--and my medicially pervasive state was presumably underscored by my extremely swollen face and hospital bracelet if nothing else. But they told me tonget them filled elsewhere. Thank goodness I was at point groggy and confused, because they werent ready when id first gone to pick them up the previous evening and when i returned to my car to wait id fallen asleep too before waking up and getting them.( Although there was still one remainng). .i asked some variation of what their issue was and the apparent ringleader proceeded to introduce what at that point became the pinnacle and reoccuring cornerstone of his awe-inspiring cleverness, which was ,'because youre ugly". Lord knows why i responded at all, but i said something about the infection that had caused the obvious extreme swelling of my face, to ehich his somehow yet more kngenius response was " thats just adding to why youre ugly. " Meanwhile, througout this Encounter, the three of them kept smugly referring to the cup of fluid outsie my car as " apple juice" and reminding me not to forget it. It was a mixture of blood id been spitting out since a dr. Basicaly randomly kept carving into my face refusing to admit that she wasnt actually accomplishing what shed intended, but I digress. They presumably through it was urine and weren obscenely proud and gleeful of their constant oblique references to it. They informed me id been hotboxing fetanyl kn my vehicle all night, which was certainly news to me.(I certainly DO NOT use fetanyl, though im not sure i condone that treatment for the addicts who do) Overall, Preventing me from retrievjng those medicatikns at that point all could have been a fatal determinant . But the immaturity with which it was further delivered was simply remarkable. That one giy probably said the words"because youre ugly" over 1/2 dozen times while his cronies consistently smirked, apparently unaware as they did so of how inextricably repulsive they were * But i would like to note that all the employees i encountered the previous night, in the pharmacy, the cashiers, security, etc, were extremelly kind and courteous despite thet im fairly certain they were likewise taken aback by my grotesque facial swelling

I have now been to this particular Fred Meyer's & Fred Meyer's Pharmacy, (Freddy's 🥰) well over 20x. The store is immaculate. There are usually several employees to be seen traveling from end to end of this immense store, however, being someone whose a bit intimidated to just pull someone over, who is clearly on a mission, "HEY! Help! Over here!" is for whatever reasons difficult for me to do. I noticed in one aisle, for laundry supplies, and another, for baby paraphernalia, there were little boxes with signs that said, "For assistance with these items, please tap the button". I guess I'm suggesting, well, asking, for that mechanism to be installed in each aisle, or maybe one every so often on an end-cap. That way, people, (me) won't get so overwhelmed by the wonderful, large selection available. Just a thought. Anyway, when I have interacted with any of the staff here, pharmacy & security included, they've been fabulous, helpful, and genuine. And for someone like me, (most people?) those things are super great, important, and unfortunately, kind of rare. So, thank you! Also, I love the unique layout and multple approaches this store has. ❤️

Employees are extremely rude. Doesn't matter how much money you spend there they all are going to treat you like a thief. And security guards wont apologize for accusing you of stealing after you prove them wrong and show them your receipt.

There is something wrong with this place. Staff of all levels treat every customer like they've stuffed a whole ham in their pocket. Lots of "managers" walking around in plain clothes acting important, prices advertised in misleading ways, not kid friendly. 0/100.

Clean store with excellent selection. Produce section is quite good, and food is fresh. Really big store with everything you need without veering into too big. Friendly self-checkout staff and security. Very convenient to have this downtown, especially with free underground parking.

Just wanted extra mayo packets for my sandwich. I hate a dry sandwich. They have a strict 2 packet policy at the deli. I offered to pay for extra packets. Still said no. So i didnt buy the 7$ sandwich so they could save 4 cents on the extra mayo packets. That's fantastic customer service and the math is fiscally sound. Lose a $7 sale,that must have at least a 60% profit margin to save 4cents of mayo.

I had visited my son in Portland several times 25 years ago. Fred Meyer Supermarket at that time was considered as an upper middle-class grocery store chain. But time changed everything after the really Whole Foods, The New Seasons and the ridiculous Zupan’s anchored themselves one after another in Portland, and when Walmart entered, Fred Meyer had become just a faded glory market place for lower middle class people in Portland, most of the customers are people who face tight budgets and financial stress on daily basis. I visited my son in late March 2026. After had been ripped off by The New Seasons, accidentally stumbled into Zupan’s and was robbed blind by their prices, and visited the two Walmart stores twice far away from our Airbnb, Fred Meyer with pharmacy nearby has become the only smart must-go grocery store. What amazed me most was not the food prices (still kinda expensive to me, but if compared to those three crazily expensive stores, it’s quite cheap), but their super nice service people, especially the cashiers during checkout. This was impossible to us, an old couple from Orange County, CA. These cashiers in Fred Meyer would be fired with extreme prejudice in L.A. or Orange County grocery stores, especially those Asian markets. They would be considered as incompetent and too considerate or too slow. To us, the kind, polite, patient and smiling face people in Portland is the most remarkable memory. It seems that after twenty some years, the residents in Portland have become more like Normal Humans than elsewhere. And the service people at Fred Meyer have a sweet spot in our memories.

I should read the reviews!! My wife and i were visiting portland for a night because of medical, i bought a fruit tray because she was having cravings, IT WAS ALL ROTTEN!! The strawberries were turning brown and slimy, the pineapple sour, the cantelo was turning white on the bottom, if I could get my money back would back great, DO BETTER

I was super excited when I first went to this Freddy's, only to suffer through rotten fish, moldy alfalfa sprouts, and sprouting garlic. Beautiful store. But it's a warehouse of old and poorly handled food. Bad experiences: frozen salmon that was apparently mishandled and allowed to defrost and then refreeze, which made it mushy and disgusting. Organic whole chickens that had a good sell by date, but had been mishandled and were slightly off. Organic Cosmic Crisp Apples that were beautiful, but we're so old that they no longer had any taste. Garlic, bought over several trips, that was always sprouting in the middle. Alfalfa sprouts that were the latest sell-by date that were moldy. Raw almonds that was so old and dry that they were difficult to bite through. So much money and time wasted.

Fred Myers and the entire kroger corporation are horrible. This store makes you feel as if you have stolen something before you even walk through the gates into the produce section. Cashiers making you lift up and show the interior of your reusable bags as they are scanning your groceries, security guards searching your cart and cross referencing as they look at your receipt. God forbid you use self checkout and the attendant accuses you of not scanning things in your cart, THAT ARE SHOWN CLEARLY ON THE DIGITAL RECEIPT, after the AI theft detection flags you. Kroger is a horrible monopoly that engages in price fixing with their "competitors" and are stealing from all of us by artificially inflating prices of food and other essentials. Boycott all Kroger grocery stores.
